Ty Floyd’s Saturday outing and future outlook

Didn’t get to see it, but scanning the box score it’s very encouraging — 4 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 Ks.
For those that watched, how did his curve look? We know the fastball plays and will get swing and misses.
Floyd is continuing to progress and, in my eyes, is putting himself back into position to be a top 2 starter on this team.
Others thoughts?

Improved. Should continue to see more opportunity since Money is useless and Grant Taylor sailed a routine throw to first 24 feet in the air.

He looked great! It was a breath of fresh air to see someone throw strikes last night after Money and Taylor.

Crazy how money went from being dominant to trash in such a short period of time

He was working in his curve and change. Id like him to get the next shot as a weekend starter. When he has his offspeed working, he is a good weekend starter. Im willing to accept he may not have it 1 out of every 3-4 times out

good to see heading into the end of the season. needs to keep working on the changeup and curve.
We have to find another solid starter to give us 4-5 innings.

Fastball is a plus plus pitch and he had good command of it last night. Change up looked good to lefties several times. Curveball still needs work to right handers but at least it is there now and the slight threat of it being thrown helps. If you take money out of equation, he seems to be the best option to put up innings on saturdays.

I’m not sure there is another starter on this team that has the potential to shut down a top 8-16 team for 4-5 innings.
With his fastball, if Ty has a second pitch going, he can limit a top offense for several innings.
I’m rewatching the game now and this change up Ty is throwing in the 6th is getting swings and misses.

He was improved but he needs to do it three times in a row to show consistency. 2 or 3 weeks ago he had an Ok outing and then the next time he pitched he was not good. If he can put a few outings back to back together I would feel better about it.

It is a hammer if he can control it consistently. He had the change working as well. 15 mph difference from FB. So much potential.

With our offense we need pitchers to throw strikes. Without our plus plus defensive catcher we are probably giving up more than a run per game. It’s sad behind the plate.
And that’s on top of that, Morgan is playing on one leg, Gavin been out for several weekends, Drew not playing at all, DH disappearing for many weekend series, and our SS forgetting how to catch and throw baseballs.
We have one weekend starter it seems and now our best hitter has a fractured finger. I know anyone reading this is well aware of everything I just wrote but just seeing what I wrote JJ is doing an incredible job so far, for us to even be closing in on the possibility of hosting anything is impressive.

This isn't your typical hyperbole found on this site. That ball was 20+ feet in the air and I laughed when it happened. That's the kind of shite your teammates pick on you about for the rest of your life.

If he has his off speed pitches working he’s easily the Saturday pitcher for us. I would like to combine him with Collins or Hasty on saturdays.
Leave money in the bullpen for a few innings in a big lead.
