Since a school can’t offer NIL deals, they aren’t tampering. It is the business offering the NIL deal that is contacting the student, thus the school is not guilty of tampering.
Of course, we know the school is directing all of this through unofficial channels and is, effectively, tampering.
Well then we should encourage all these kids to sign those contracts and then not transfer.
Sue these businesses for not paying up on a contract.
Those contracts can't say that it's null and void if they don't transfer, right?

It is sustainable. College football as we know it is not

NIL needs a cap. Bad.
Maybe, but I think the 1st change that needs to be made is disallowing transfers to play right away. No way boutte even considers transferring if he would have had to sit a year

The issue is not NIL. The issue is NIL along with the one time free transfer.

Innovative: getting players to get into the portal for money

NIL will end college football.
Its not sustainable and the schools will end up putting an end to it.
Its already turned into an arms race and combined with unlimited free agency, will destroy the sport.

I question how sustainable this NIL stuff is.
There will definitely by a retraction. Boosters chipping in 6 figs to these collectives will field some 5 loss teams. They don't chip in again when they figure out the defensive linemen bought for $500k was a bust.

No, let them transfer for 1/2 off..... of course they would have to sit out the SECOND half of the year.

NIL in its basic form would be ok. However its' not being administered that way.
A guy making money off appearances and jersey sales is one thing. Bidding on high school recruits is going to make it an unsustainable arms race.

As far as offering the most cash I definitely agree.
Hopefully Kelly can play the game better than others though.

I remember when that was a recruiting violation for everyone but the Gumps.
Posted on 5/2/22 at 6:55 pm to Byrdybyrd05
I was told it was around $125k from a family member of another WR on the team that has a NIL deal.

I talk a bunch of shite about injury attorneys but this dude at least seems like a baw

sounds like it was said to sound more baw, I'm a bit skeptical

Injury lawyer Gordon McKernan, an LSU graduate and Baton Rouge native, is a more modest directive. His modern three-story law office hugs Interstate 10, welcoming visitors to Louisiana’s capital city with a reminder that an SEC program resides here—a giant golden flag emblazoned with purple L-S-U letters that connects McKernan’s shop with his hometown team. In the NIL era, he is no longer only using his alma mater’s banner to promote his business. He’s using, and paying, the players. “I got off the sideline to prevent our players from being poached. You have to put a wall around them,” he says.
God damnit, Gordon is making me like him.

Most NIL deals will not bring additional business to thje companies that pony up....they do it because they can, and it connects them to the program bigtime.
Exactly. Mike Jones has a NIL deal with a small law firm here in Ponchatoula who is a sponsor on Blake Ruffino's show. They aren't getting more business from it.

no one believes "pitch" people anyway, does anyone actually think that some 18-22 year old semi-literate jock is going to sway business to a sponsor?
