Zachary (La.) four-star quarterback Eli Holstein has flown under the radar when it comes to the country’s top signal-callers. He is considered to be outside the elite group that features names like Malachi Nelson, Arch Manning and Nico Iamaleava. But the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder has drawn serious attention after his decommitment from Texas A&M. That includes Alabama, which is considered the leader to land Holstein, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

He showed exactly why the Crimson Tide are so high on him Sunday at the Elite 11 Regionals in Las Vegas. Holstein showed off his athleticism, running a 4.64 40, notching a 38.3-inch vertical jump and running a 4.19 shuttle. In the process, he earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals this summer in Los Angeles.

This is a new all-time high SPARQ Rating for a QB -
@eli_holstein10 is a special prospect ??

It’s a shame he doesn’t want to be at LSU

We need to spread them out a little more. Finally we've got some legit top talent guys, but their all at the same time.

When he chooses Bama, I wonder where that will push Arch. Seems like UGA and Texas are the front runners.

Sparq ratings don't mean shite if you can't throw the ball accurately. He has some throwing technique to work on.

ETA:

Not saying he can't get better in that area. I'd take him, but right now he's just a very good athlete with great size that happens to play QB.

He’s definitely good given that LSU overlooked and underrated him. Go Tigas! LOL about the de-commit mfers!

I don’t think so. Just seems like he wants to blaze his own trail and not be burdened trying to live up to his dad’s legacy here

This is the right answer.

Even if we land a top 100 QB this year, we would probably be looking at that QB or Howard transferring out within 1-2 years.

And that's not an indictment on LSU - that's just the way it is now. You would essentially be telling a top 100 QB to sit on the bench for 3 years to wait his turn. That's not happening in today's culture.

It's vital to take in a QB every year, but generally we would want to space out top 100 QB commitments every ~3 years or so. That means the new 5* QB comes in as a freshman when our starter is in his last year, so he would only have to sit on the bench for a single season before taking over.

Shame he's running from Walker and holding a grudge LSU didn't go hard after his brother Caleb, who has yet to play a snap at LA. Tech, but LSU should have been begging him to come here!

Does bama like him enough?

Does Kelly pursue him or do we stick on Moore?

This is true. But I don't think it should scare a coaching staff away from recruiting the best QBs in each class. You need them on your roster, and you want them to not be on your rivals' rosters. I say bring in a big time QB in every class and if someone else decides to transfer out, that's too bad ... at least you've brought in more talent to safeguard for that eventuality.

Supposedly, he’s #1 on their board according to Bama fans.

He's an impressive athlete for a QB.
