These things drive me insane. In my opinion, it's a terrible "solution" to a problem that never existed. Also, I'm sure the repair is highly expensive if one goes out.

Am I the only one with this opinion?

100pct agreed. I drive a German luxury car known for their ads that say "The Best or Nothing". The power trunk never works right. Granted it is not brand new and out of warranty, but there are millions of rusty Chevys and Chryslers driving around out there, and the trunk works just fine, far better than my stupid car.

There is no "the best" about a Mercedes power trunk closer. It is the worst trunk I've owned.

Weird. Mine rolled out of factory nearly 12 years ago, I have driven it for 9, and I’ve never had the power trunk malfunction. My biggest problem is when idiots close it manually and get their handprints on my dusty ride.
