Home Generator Cost Question

I made a post a while back on which brand does the OT recommend post Hurricane Ida.
We Decided on Kholer & got quotes on a 30kw & 38kw both liquid cooled.
38kw $23,762.00
30kw $22,204.00
(Both of these prices are installed. My house was built for a generator to be installed. So all the hook ups & gas is close by)
Is this cost normal? A friends said it seemed high?

Home and Garden board would probably get better responses.

I got a Cummins 30kw water cooled generator installed last year for 18K.
I used gage in baton rouge.

I think that’s normal for Kholer.

Damn, how big is your house? Before I did my generac we ran an electrical draw and the most we registered was around 17kw with everything on. I went with a 22kw.

Those are good prices. I got a liquid cooled 32k Generac and the price was $12,194.66 with installation/taxes/permits/ATS/accessories/annual maintence/etc bringing the total to $23k.

I thought I could have got out for 16k-18k.
I was kinda shocked when I seen almost 24k

I’ve got the same size house with 3 units and a unit for my pool.

I used my dads 10% Lowe’s discount and ordered the 22kw. I think out the door was $4800. As I posted in another thread, I ran my own gas line, poured the base, bought the wire, hired an electrician on the side, 500 gallon tank rented and filled turn key was 72-7300.

Who did your install if you don’t mind me asking?

I just got a 16kw air cooled Generac. It’s 20 ft from the house. After gas lines run and everything else, total cost was just over 10k.

Well I paid my builder for generator prep that was $1500 and In like typical builder fashion I had to remind them that I paid that to him so the transfer switch was supposed to be covered by my builder.

If you figure in the operating costs, you will just plan to throw everything in your freezer and ride out the hurricane on the French Riveirra.

We put our deposit down with them a couple of months ago to get a Cummins. They were cheaper than a couple of other estimates that we got. How was your overall experience with Gage?

Nope. Sitting at my house for 4 days swimming in my chilled pool was worth the money.
frick hunting gas to keep something running and trying to get back into town afterwards.

Darryl's Electric.
It was $8675 for the 25kw and installation. That 6k was going off memory and was for generator cost.

The smart play is to go with a much smaller generator and shut off part of the house and cool the rest with window or portable AC units.
Because on top of all that cost, if you’re running that much generator power including 3 central air units for longer than a day it could add up real quick.
