I've worked on a project in the NE that had these. This was probably a few years before camera phones were common so I didn't get picks. Wish I did, most people don't believe these are a thing.

I can second this. I was on the CEP job and saw pics of it about 2 years after it was found during (I believe) planning an excavation for laying underground pipe in an early phase of the expansion. Think it was originally locating with Ground Penetrating Radar? Not 100%, that's been over a decade ago.
