BLITZ FOR GOD SAKES BLITZ!

Is it too much to ask for us to actually use these fast and talented defenders to blitz the qb/ball carrier. Blitzing not only pressures the QB but it also can smother the run. I know I'm not a coach but this is just sooooo obvious. We NEVER blitz.

i always call for the blitz also but i think in florida's case they just had too much speed and tebow could just as easily dump it off somebody and have harvin or demps run for 30 yards after the catch...i know what you are upset about though

thank God. if you would have blitzed tebow on third and 2, he would have burnt us even more. remember, hot routes are a qb's best friend. now, if we would have put them in 3rd and long, then it would have been wise but we didn't.

actully we did blitz fla... we just didn't get their when we did. i don't know if it was the blitzing scheme or if they had it defended really well.... but the lack of pressure was very evident, blitz or not...

What game did you watch? We sat back and spread the field out even more by not blitzing. What do you think works best for a spread offense? A spread out field or congestion? Ding Ding Ding. A spread out field works better for a spread offense. Come on man. More pressure would have benefitted us and you know it.

You call sending 5 or 6 a blitz. Other teams send 7 and really try to get up the other team's a**. Sending one linebacker is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the good ole muschamp send 2 backers and a safety blitz.

I think that it would be a mistake for LSU to blitz with their pass coverage capabilities. Secondary and LB's are too young and it would expose the defense badly. But, it couldn't hurt at this point. If you blitz and make a mistake then you get 58 hung on you instead of 51, it's worth a try I guess.

Our secondary is not the problem. It's giving the QB 10 seconds to throw the ball. Any receiver could get open with the amount of time we give opposing QB's. Our young secondary is talented and Coleman is a beast.

Didn't seem to hurt Ole Miss when they did it.

Blitz or not, we were beaten at the LOS on both sides of the ball. Our vaunted d-line has not penetrated well all year. They are taught to "hold their lanes" as they rush and let the play come to them. Not very effective against a well coached offense. No defensive pressure = offensive no mistakes = no turnovers. Blitzes can supplement, but not effectively if the team can never generate pressure without blitzing.

That's because the d lineman were being double teamed. This isn't rocket science. You have to send more than 4 or 5 players when they have 7 on the line of scrimmage. You're right we got no pressure. So why the hell wouldn't we blitz to put more pressure on the qb/rb's.

send the lb's and there is a nice little hot route for a 4.2 harvin to take it, at minimum, 25 yrds. on 3rd and short, tebow only needs 1 second for harvin to run two yards. you think that we could get to him in one second?

Can you explain this to me? Take it easy ... I'm female. Thanks.

Man you could say that about any player anytime there was a blitz. That's a weak argument. Not to mention our linebackers can't cover harvin anyway so what the hell difference does it make.

a hot route is a route that a wr/rb/te takes whenever he notices that there is a blitz coming. for example, when the wr/rb/te breaks the huddle, he knows that he is to run a specific route told to him by the qb. however, when he comes set at the line of scrimage and sees that the l.b./c.b's are showing blitz, he will just change his route and go where they were when they leave. and the q.b. notices it also. in a nutshell.

funny then that it worked for Michigan, a team not known for it's speed.

I would rather blitz and get burned occasionally than to play 7 in coverage and suffer a slow, painful death.
Take your chances that Tebow will make a perfect read and throw every time under pressure.
Heaven forbid we make a left-handed quarterback roll to his right and make off-balanced throws.

Thanks .. now tell me how blitz is "shown".
I'm not blonde and I love to watch LSU football ... I just don't know all the ins and outs ... and my poor husband is tired of me asking! (not really but I hate to KEEP asking!)

my arguement is that we didn't put them in 3rd and long situations enough to blitz regularly like pelini. that is why ole miss could.
