What is the allure of Euro Truck and Train simulator?

I think what you’re missing is that some people are looking for that kind of monotonous gaming experience. It’s not for me, but I get it in theory.

Landscape, beauty, interest in the subject, enjoyment of the weather conditions involved.
I bought flight simulator, not because I care about flying but because the maps were amazing and as a military member I have nostalgia for the places I’ve visited. This allows an open world way to experience the beauty of some of those areas again.

Just guessing but I would assume it is like Flight Simulator only you're driving. So the scenery, driving all around Europe.
No idea if the graphics and how accurate it all is though.

I haven't played Train Simulator, but Euro Truck is a pretty damn chill game.
It's like it was made for all the kids who used to play GTA 3 randomly exploring the world following all the traffic laws, and there's more "game" in minimizing broken traffic laws trying to get from point A to B than you might think.
There's also a suite of real(?) European radio stations that you can chill out to while driving.
I can't speak for Train Simulator as I have never played it.
It's like it was made for all the kids who used to play GTA 3 randomly exploring the world following all the traffic laws, and there's more "game" in minimizing broken traffic laws trying to get from point A to B than you might think.
There's also a suite of real(?) European radio stations that you can chill out to while driving.
I can't speak for Train Simulator as I have never played it.

I have bought and played both Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator. Driving games have always appealed to me for some reason, all the way back when I was in elementary school and played CrossCountry USA in the school library on those old Apple II systems. 
In the more modern sims there is more than driving from place to place, you work your way up, buy your own trucks, buy and expand garages and hire employees. There's business and fleet management that also fills a niche.
In my case, I'll play a game like that for hours, yet the Souls-like games have never been my thing although I understand the praise they get.
