LSU pitchers struck out 18 in only 7 innings?

I was going to start a thread asking how the defense looked after the 2nd inning. But now I see. Doesn’t look like they got many chances.

Is the final box score correct? LSU pitchers struck out 18 in only 7 innings? That’s ridiculous if true.

Yes but

Top 4th 3rd K reached on passed ball
Next batter K
So it was 4 K’s in one inning

1 of the 18 K’s reached on a passed ball
2 of the 18 J’s reached on wild pitches

Vietmeier faced 8 batters, 6 K
Fowler faced 4 batters, 4 K

The wild pitches were generous too.

Travinski hits a tank for every bad play behind the plate so what are you gonna do

Fowler made his debut on the mound in grand fashion last night striking out all 4 batters he faced! He had great command of his breaking ball able to get it over plate for called strike and breaking off the plate for swing and miss. Would like to see him get more appearances.

He's on the travel roster this weekend.

I didn't. Johnson mentioned it yesterday when he met with the media before they left for Starkville.
