A lot of fans are pissed because of the hypocrisy in college basketball but A. No amount of complaining will change that and B. No just because everyone else does it doesn’t mean Wade should’ve been retained. If landing elite recruits and taking the risks to get them brings this kind of trouble it’s a hard pass for me because you don’t need em to win. There are plenty of examples of good teams who win in March that don’t have elite prospects on the roster. Give me a good 3-4 year college basketball player over a prospect any day.

Madking: I don't often agree with you, but I do on this post.

Getting 5*s requires recruiting risk and, like you, I'd rather target very good players who will be here for 3-4 years, but not the 5*s, who will most often leave after a year or two.

We can still have big success here with that model.

Every single team in the final four pays for elite talent.
