same goes for UCLA

UCLA basketball is like ND football. Their glory days are well in the past and they're mostly average nowadays with every now and then making some serious noise. Some recent final fours since 2000 for UCLA, recent playoff appearances/BCS CG appearances for ND but neither was able to actually win the title those years.

But they're absolutely still blue bloods. Their history is too rich to ignore and were instrumental in their respective sports becoming as big as they are.

Being a blueblood is less about right now, and more about history.

UCLA was dominant in the way Alabama football has been excpt even moreso. From 1964 to 1975 UCLA won all but 2 National Championships.

Here are your multi title winners. I'd say there are 5 blue bloods.

UCLA — 11
Kentucky — 8
North Carolina — 6
Duke — 5
Indiana — 5
UConn — 4
Kansas — 3
Villanova — 3
Cincinnati — 2
Florida — 2
Louisville — 2
Michigan State — 2
NC State — 2
Oklahoma State — 2
San Francisco — 2

I was going to make this exact comparison.

UCLA’s heyday was unreal and although they haven’t dominated in decades they haven’t fallen off the map either like a Nebraska (football) that’s going to lose its blue blood status (if it hasn’t already) for sucking for too long. Hell, I think Nebraska’s last 20 years would have been better if they had kept running Osborne’s offense with Solich and then some other former assistant or player when he retired. Ironically, that’s exactly what they have right now, just with a different offense.

Ergo blueblood.

Dominating the past is the fricking definition of blueblood.

Plus they went to 3 consecutive Final Fours recently. Blue blood is old money. Not Johnny come lately.
