Passport Appointments still impossible?

So I know last year was a cluster, but had thought that was cleared up.
Anyway, was going to grab a passport for my infant daughter, but there are no appointments available anywhere according to the USPS shitty scheduler. Unfortunately, there is no alternative than physical applications for first time filing for her.
It's a nice to have situation in case we want to go to Mexico or something in the next five years, and I had done this was my son with global entry for him as well, but that was before COVID.
Anyway, if it's a PITA I'll just wait but wasn't sure what the experience was out there.

There were a bunch of appointments available near me here on the north side of Houston a couple weeks back when I was looking in to renewing my passport (before I know that was done via mail).

I was curious about personal experience because I have zero trust in the USPS scheduler, but sounds like you got some results. May need to drop in local one and ask questions.

Ah gotcha, yeah when I found out that renewals were done by mail I didn't look in to it any further.

Not sure where you are located but the big Post Office on Bluebonnet/Perkins in BR has appointments available. Took both my kids there about a month ago for their first passports.

Wife and I just sent ours in for renewal. Took about 4 weeks.

If you’re in LA, contact Sen. Kennedy’s office.

If you are in the Houston area there are several Harris County Public Libraries providing passport services. We have used them the last two times our children have needed a new 5 year passport rather than the postal service. At the end of January, it took us two weeks to schedule the appointment and received the passports in three weeks time. As long as you have the application completed, birth certificate, SS card and both parents it is painless and quick. They can take the pic for you as well which is helpful with an infant.
