If I could get a contemporarily engineered car, with all the advances in engine technology, but without all the extra computational bullshite, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Especially a turbo diesel in a mid-size truck and a wagon.

Hell, I'd take a brand new 1988 Monte SS with the only changes being an LS under the hood, Tremec 6 speed, taller front spindles and 4 wheel discs.
No other changes required.
*Of course it would never pass todays crash tests.
Todays cars with all the screens and electronics are going to be hell to keep going when 10-15 years old. Cadillac says the OLED screen that runs all the way across the dash in the Escalade is expected to last 15 years.

Me too. I’d be happy without Nav, touchscreen, camera, multi-zone AC (though this feature was in some cars well before the advent of computer controlled features), adjusting cruise, lane assist, etc.
