Grosjean takes that hairpin beautifully.
But he's out of push-to-pass! And he's got to make the pass before his reds fade.

Newgarden is too good.
I hadn't noticed O'Ward sneaking up like that.

Darn it, last lap ruined by a yellow.
Newgarden had it anyway.
Edit: OK I saw the replay on the last incident. VeeKay stuffed Sato into a corner, forcing Sato out into the late-race accumulation of marbles, skating him into the wall.

Hope that Indy Car continues there momentum...some great drivers and personalities...

Yup, it turned into a great race.
And yeah IndyCar has a good crop of young drivers to take over from the old-timers, plus rejuvenated old guy Grosjean.
I was just thinking that IndyCar needs a young Brazilian driver. They used to have a lot, but now it's just old guy Castroneves (and Kanaan in the Indy 500).

That was a pretty good race. Anything could’ve happened in the last several laps.

My man Rinus VeeKay on pole! VeeKay drives for Ed Carpenter Racing. VeeKay has one win in IndyCar, at the IMS road course. Last year he was doing well until he had a cycling accident during training. After that, he did terrible the rest of the year. He is doing well this year, P7 in the championship after three races, with a good chance to rise several places with a win or podium.
Two favorites for pole, Colton Herta and Romain Grosjean, got screwed at the end of the Fast 12 session when Marcus Ericsson caused a red flag when they were on their last fast lap.
Among the championship leaders, P1 Josef Newgarden is starting 7th, but the guys just behind him are starting ahead of him in the race. P2 Scott McLaughlin is starting 4th and P3 Alex Palou is starting 3rd, so they have a chance to rise to P1 in the championship by finishing ahead of Newgarden. The next guy, P4 Will Power, is starting 19th, so he is likely to lose ground in the championship after this race.

Tim Tebow is the Grand Marshall and gave the command to start their engines. He's in the back seat of the IndyCar two-seater. Not sure who's driving it.

Ericsson, Newgarden, Harvey, Herta, and Grosjean pitting for clear track and definitely going for a 3-stop strategy. So it's going to be a battle of the 2-stoppers vs 3-stoppers.

They went a whole 33 laps (out of 90) before the first incident. Super rookie Callum Ilott went too aggressive into that downhill chicane, spun out and got stuck in the sand, bringing out the full-course yellow. The 3-stoppers are screwed.

Amazing race. It turns out VeeKay was holding up O'Ward and Palou. O'Ward wins, then Palou, then VeeKay, 12 seconds back. Palou leads the championship now. The top four in the championship are covered by 10 points.
The wily veterans Power and Dixon work their way up to top 5 finishes. Power started P19.
Herta got in a tangle and spun out late in the race. His speed, aggressiveness and passing are exciting, but he makes a lot mistakes.
Same story with Grosjean, fast and aggressive and gets into incidents. In the last couple of laps he hit Rahal trying to pass him, but then he hit Rahal a second time in the same incident. It was strange, and Rahal will probably call for a penalty on Grosjean.

Rahal was pissed getting out of his car. Don’t blame him. Grosjean claims Rahal cut him off but I didn’t see it.

Everyone finished the race. Lots of on-track passing and movements up and down the order because of strategy and tires. Will Power is probably the driver of the day rising from P19 to P4. Newgarden and Rosenqvist had an awful day on a 3-stop strategy, but Grosjean and Herta made it work because they were able to pass a lot of cars on track. Herta finished a few places below where he might have if he hadn't spun late in the race.
