Houston Club Fitting

Looking at finally getting fitted for clubs in March. Not ready to buy new irons as I like my p770s but I would be interested if I should adjust my lie on them. I am interested in a new driver though. I was going to book at club champions but figured I would ask here if either location is better or if someone recommended a person at either location. Should I let them know at the beginning of the fitting that I am not interested in irons?

If your comfortable just hitting off a lie board, I suggest going to see Mike Nugent at Impact Golf on Dairy Ashford. He can bend most clubs and putters.
He doesn't have a trackman but he has years of experience fitting mini tour players, College and Senior Tour guys like Keith Fergus who can tell a difference of one swingweight.
Will save you a bunch of cash. Mike takes trade ins and in my opinion he is far too generous with their values.
He only carries Ping and Callaway woods. He can do any re-shafts and can order anything.

Impact Precision with Trevor or Major

Definitely a lot better than Club Champion.
Trevor is a great guy and a good friend, but it won't be cheap.
Adjusting irons concerning the lie angle is not tough.

If you choose Club Champion, go to the I-10 West location by Memorial City Mall.. ask to be fitted by Mike Riches, he’s a LSU Alumn.
Good thing about Club Champion is the selection of Driver Heads and Shaft Combinations. You schedule a fitting based on what you want to look for.. I.e Driver Fitting.
As for you irons, call Mike at Impact Golf and make sure he’ll be there and have him check your lie.. it’s a great old school shop.
Impact Golf is only like a 15 min drive to Club Champion. You knock both out in a day.
With that said, I’m going to schedule a Hybrid Fitting with Major at Impact Precision in Spring. I’m curious to see the different fitting style between Club Champion and Impact Precision.

I think I’ll do a driver fitting at Club Champions and do my irons at Impact precision.

Trevor at Impact Precision will do a better driver fitting that CC in my opinion.

It seems like club champions has more options. Does impact precision have more manufacturers than Callaway and Ping?

Your getting them confused.
Impact Golf with Mike is on Dairy Ashford. He can help with your irons.
Impact Precision with Trevor in in Spring area. He is outfitted like CC with different clubs and trackman .
Personally I am not a fan of our Club Champion store. Know too many guys walk out of there after spending thousands with clubs that are not right for them.
Right now it seems that CC is pushing Accra shafts on everyone it seems.
Nothing wrong with Accra shafts, but 20 hcps don't need them....

Gotcha well I just booked a full bag fitting with Major at Impact Precision in March. Looking forward to it and appreciate the advice from you all

Will do. Trevor was booked the days that I had off. Read good stuff about Major though.

Played golf with Trevor, he can pound it. He has 300 plus yds in his bag any time.
Not many guys can drive number 17 at Quail Valley El Dorado from the tips.

Huh?
That would be a hell of high draw that stuck.
Did you actually see this?

I just looked up the gps of that shot on the Grint. I find it hard to believe he carried a 330 yard hook like that unless you can put it over the trees. I don’t know since I’ve never played there though.

Anyone who has played there would find this hard to believe. He may be mistaken. I would pay money to watch someone hit that green from the tips. Do not really know how it is possible.
Quail Valley El Dorado is probably the hardest public track in Houston in my opinion. Water everywhere, long par 3s and 17 is quite a difficult hole if your game is coming down to the end.

He hit it over the backyards, probably cuts off 30 yds.
No, I wasn't there but I know guys that where that worked at Golfsmith with him and I watched plenty of his drives on other courses.
Trevor is pretty legendary in Houston area for his length like Warren Kovar and others.
Pretty sure Cleaththecat on here played junior golf with him.
I don't know Major at Impact Precision but Im sure Bogey Tx can ask him about Trevor's length back then.
Trevor played a lot of mini tours, believe his short game is what kept him from progressing higher.

You think ?
I think there are quite a few tougher like Blackhorse, etc... I think the front nine is fairly easy.
I'm playing there Tuesday.
At 66 , I don't play the tips any more, but from the blues it's a good 3 wood and a PW unless the wind is up.
