Entergy Baton Rouge service transfer question

I’m am taking over an existing residence that presently has electricity and gas. I called to transfer to my name and was told that I have to get a permit and get a licensed electrician and plumber to inspect service and do a gas pressure test. The representative told me this without much confidence. I’ve transferred utilities before but never needing permits. Can anyone verify this?

Call back and ask to speak to a Manager

Call back 30 minutes later, speak to a different phone operator, and you'll probably get a completely different story.

This sounds like for commercial, not residential.

The whole permit for everything you do is out of hand. They will fail you once to get one more fee.

Try to set it up online. They have a service called MyEntergy.

Tell them you need a read and transfer.
Get your account set up.

The current owner then has to give the date to end their service and that becomes your starting date.

Just went through this with them. They claimed that we needed a permit cause gas and electricity had been off for 6+ months. I had to go out and read my meter numbers to the lady and I turned on my tv because she could not believe that I had power. She ended up bypassing the requirement

Had the exact experience a couple of months ago. Took the parish guy seconds to "inspect" and "pressure test". He was at the house for a total of 2 minutes. See if you can bypass it but if you can't its not a big deal

I had issues like this a few years ago when moving to BR. Property had working gas/electric lines but Entergy was trying to treat as brand new needing permits etc. Had to get the realtors and Entergy management on the phone to avoid going to the courthouse. It worked out but was an annoying mess.

Maybe it's a stupid BR thing.
