Engine weight and associated other stuff (transmission, etc) knock it down some. I doubt its 2000 lbs of extra shite though. They likely have shallower gear ratios to hit those fuel economy numbers.

That makes sense. You would think the goal for them would be a comparable towing cap. But I guess that mpg mandate is more pressing

Fyi - ram diesel has the same towing cap (12750lbs) as the hemi...with the same mpg as chevy. So they figured it out.

The 2022 are rated for 13300 for certain models. Add tge mods and you can get equivalent HP. Looks like I may be looking at GM again instead of Ford for my next truck.
