Well you've only given a Ricky Bobby answer to what you want so I'm genuinely curious what would tickle your pickle in this market segment. The "heavy half" thing was attempted by Nissan and the market has proven it won't support a premium price for non-premium fuel economy in a half ton truck. The people who want/need power are buying big trucks. The people who want fuel economy and moderate capability are buying half tons. You seem to be in some kind of really weird middle ground where the 14k lbs or whatever these trucks can tow isn't enough, the 400+ ft-lbs they put out isn't enough, but an HD truck is too big.

aren't the car companies required to get to an avg of 40mpg in a few years anyway? They can't start rolling out guzzlers
