Old Forester and rabbit hole are are two that I hit on my last trip in November.

Old Forester is probably the best one I've ever done.

Makers mark is severely overrated imo. Four roses too. Lunch at bardstown is good shite if you're out in that area though.

I wanted to do Angle's envy but they were booked. Don't overlook all the downtown distilleries. There are a ton.

We stayed in Lexington and did Buffalo Trace (modified Hard Hat tour), Four Roses (just a tasting), Woodford Reserve Tour (the fanciest of the ones we toured), and Castle and Key just a mile down the road from WR. Honestly, once you see one distillery, you've basically seen them all.

Buffalo Trace was cool because we got to see "Pompeii" on the modified tour because they were replacing some of their components, which closed those buildings off to tours. They also talk about how they make Vodka alot to keep the lights on (Wheatly Vodka BTW is really good and cheap.)

Woodford had the fanciest visitor center and tasting area/gift shop. Castle and Key had the coolest story of them all. There is a railroad that runs right next to the distillery, because E.H. Taylor used his own money to build it from there to Frankfort so that his buddies could ride in and drink with him.

If you’re ever in Nashville, drive an hour north to pembroke, ky and check out MB Rolland distillery. It’s ducked off on a farm surrounded by cornfields but they have some of the best small batch bourbon I’ve sampled.

The lady who hosted the tastings said the owner was from Slidell. And they offer a short tour for like 10 bucks.

If you are looking for distilleries close to Makers, check out Heaven Hill & Willett in Bardstown. Lots of good places to eat in Bardstown. Talbott for traditional country cooking type food (oldest restaurant in the state, 1779) or the Bardstown Bourbon Company Kitchen & Bar for something a bit more modern.

Head towards Frankfort & hit Four Roses, Woodford, Castle & Key, & Buffalo Trace. Buffalo Trace is the one I would not skip. Eat at The Stave. It’s near Castle & Key & Woodford.

Excellent call...we had a contact that knew the GM and ended up taking home a bunch of their Knob Creek barrel pick. Also, Mint Julep tours if you have a day to do distilleries.

Would recommend eating at Willet. You need a reservation. Egg salad was off the charts good.

We are staying at bed and breakfast near Makers. Father in law’s barrel is ready so that is why we are going. Friday we are arriving in Nashville then headed to Barton’s. Will check in to b&b after then head to Log Still that evening. Saturday will hit Makers, then Jim Beam and the Lux row/willet and Heaven Hill. Sunday will head back to Nashville. So anyplace to stop on way is good. Will check out the one distillery mentioned. Going to Ryman Sunday night to see Randy Houser.

We’re leaving now. Our vacation got fricked due to the ice storm. But we did some stuff.

Peerless was excellent. Best tasting by far. Jack Frys was great for a nice meal. Proof on Main was ok except they had an octopus appetizer that was amazing.

The tasting at willet was lame. Wish we could have eaten there tho. Makers mark was beautiful, decent tour. Lux Row had a solid tasting.

Made lunch reservations at Willett for the day we get there. Will go there before heading to Heaven Hill.
