Lack of upperclassmen for MBB

One thing I notice from year to year is a lot of the teams that are around towards the end of the tournament, are usually loaded with juniors and seniors.
I love the direction that Wade has our team going and he’s been crushing it on the recruiting trail. He’s not without flaws but for the most part he’s been a breath of fresh air from Jones and Johnson.
One thing I wish he could improve on is convincing guys to stick around. I know he’s done it with a few like Days and Mays but we need more.

Don't watch much MBB?
Not many P5 schools have upperclassmen.

Mwani, Reid, Gaines, and Murray are all multi year guys. Maybe Fudge, but if he learns to shoot and score, he will be a first round draft pick on his potential

Brought in Pinson and a very mature sophomore in Miller
Smart pretty much hit his ceiling and made the right choice to leave. It’s hard to question watford as well since he’s carved out a role in Portland

True but there’s a difference between a veteran transfer and veteran program guy, no? I’d like to see Wade have some teams that have played together more than a year or two.

LSU was a veteran team last year. Should have been a run year but was one of Wade’s worst coaching jobs. That’s why I’m shocked people are upset with this team this year

veteran program guy,
We’re fortunate to have Days and to have had Mays but it’s just such a rarity in the sport these days especially with the level wade is recruiting at. Even guys like Gaines and Fudge who on paper should be here 3-4 years have enough upside that they could pop and leave early. Murray is a guy i think could be a star if he stays through at least his Junior year

Last year they needed that inside presence. Should have had both Cissee and Dante, but we know what happened there.

While I agree for the most part, I swear teams like Gonzaga, UCLA, Baylor and Arizona in MBB are always loaded with juniors and seniors and it shows in March.

UCLA has been one of my favorite teams to watch because all those guys came back. Juzang is probably a pro and could’ve gone after his awesome tournament performances but they all decided to come back. The other guys aren’t really high draft prospects. Baylor has done a good job with the portal . Two of their best players Akinjo and Tchachoua (sp?) are both transfers. Last year they had a 4 year guy in Vital and this year Mayer. Last year Mitchell and Teague were transfers while Butler was a solid 3 year guy.
We have to try and keep those Gaines, Fudge and Murray types for at least 3 years

They still had 3 guys getting minutes in the nba this year plus days. Wade did not have a great game plan & gave Cam Thomas way too much freedom

That's not why they lost. Who else would you have given shots?
It was smart, watford, and thomas.
Maybe give smart more shots but he took his fair share.
I do agree last year was the year and the talent level between the 2 teams is steep.
