How’s your experience been? In Louisiana or other states.

I’ve been a handful of times over the years, and always get stuck in the “gar hole” or with the “new guide”.

Other groups kill and we don’t fire our guns.

Is it all about more $, better blind?

I can honestly say, I’ve never paid one penny for a guide to shoot ducks in my life and I’m 38. I’ve killed thousands of ducks on public land or private land invites. I don’t own any ducking hunting property. To each there own, but I just don’t understand paying anyone to kill a duck. Every mallard I ever killed, wood duck I ever killed, all look the same. I’ve been on hunts on public land that could never be beat, limits in minutes.

I've never done the guided hunt thing , but sometimes I'll get invited by an old friend to hunt their blind that I don't normally hunt with and a few guide sometimes, but I'll put some gas in the boat for them or throw them a little money for shells/gas/whatever. Honeybrake is nearby and I always wanted to go, but I don't wanna stay the night and pay for all that bullshite, I just wanna show up and hunt, I'd pay for that just because I've always wanted to go.

Grosse Savanne or Gordon Markel. Wouldn't waste $ anywhere else including Honey Brake. Don't get me wrong, great set up, lodge etc. but the hunting is spotty.

I’ve had great experiences. Worth every penny. It makes more sense to take 5 guided hunts a year than to spend $10k on one blind that you’re stuck in for the year. These guys have dozens, some of them 100s of blinds brushed up ready to roll.

Went with red rock in Oklahoma this season. Was my first guided duck hunt and it was awesome. Those guys put in the work and found us birds to shoot everyday. Killed 5-6 man limits every day we were there. I’m ready to go back next year.

I know an excellent guide for divers in Wisconsin if you want to go. One of the best that I have used.

Go to Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska.

You’ll kill ducks and get your money’s worth.

That absolutely happens. I would also bet that some fields are off limits to the average customer and used for marketing on the socials. Almost all these big outfits have a camera guy there the entire season. If he isn't on your hunt, there is a good chance your hunt will be mediocre.

The last 3 guided hunts did not produce "limits" of any kind.

Northwest Missouri - December 8 Guns
Hunted 3 days, 6 different hunts
Fired our guns once into a group of snows

West Texas - Week after Thanksgiving 12 guns
3 Morning Hunts
4 Cranes
8 Specks
15 Specks

Texas Panhandle - Early January 14 Guns
3 Morning Hunts
8 Lessers
30 Lessers
12 Lessers

It seems like every guided duck hunt I have been on is roughly 50/50 chance of being great or crappy.

I have only been on guided hunts in Canada though.

The more you go, the better the spots. Find a good crew and go a couple times a year-preferably weekdays. They will typically work harder, be more accommodating to repeat customers. Also, be nice to the guides.

Also, If you are flexible with dates many crews will tell you when to come.
