re: AT&T Hyper Gig launches today

I upgraded to the 2gig speed too. I am apparently supposed to get the new router today even though the new service "hyper gig" isn't supposed to flip on until FEB7th here.

I'd imagine that the new router works just fine on the "old" 1gig speeds.

I do not need speeds > 1gig, however, I was willing to try it for a month. I work from home 100% now and we only stream TV/ipads, etc. plus I have close to 75devices (including 3 cameras constantly streaming).

Do I need more than 1gig, probably not, however, for the extra few $$ a month, it isn't going to break our household income so worth a shot.

Do you own a $40k truck? I see a shite ton of people in the SE USA that own 40-50k trucks and might put 5 pieces of lumber in it during a whole 12 month period. People still buy trucks though.

Yeah somehow we're getting it for 50 and I've never asked for anything. Other than a tree taking out the fiber pole I haven't talked to AT&T in 18 months, which is awesome.

Oh man, I can only imagine. We got sent home at the start of the pandemic and now have been working from home for 2 years. Not the biggest fan of it but it does have perks.

I don't think that my house going to 2000mbps will improve much for me but it can't hurt. I'm curious to try out this new ATT router and see if it's better than my OG Google wifi 3 node/puck system. For the most part, our internet is pretty stable but with 3 cameras constantly recording/streaming, on top of 3 kids/ipads, wife on phone, ipad, macbook and 2+ TVs streaming while everyone has ADD, I think a router or mesh system that can stabilize all those damn tasks will show me the greatest improvement.

I have 1 gig now, wish it was available here (Georgetown Tx) now.

thats super shitty upload. on my gig fiber upload is usually faster than the download.

I call every March

We pay $40 a month for 1 Gbps here.

The funny thing is our old house we use to live in now has fiber, just got it was not there when we moved, also the new speed tiers. It is a 1950s to 1960s house too.

It is ok though. We really do not need more than 1 Gbps plus I bet they will sooner or later upgrade all markets that has fiber.

Lol I can get 25 MB option.

I live in Smyrna outside of Atlanta. Guess I will just keep getting raped by charter and my 100MB.
