I have seen some posts around here saying to lower expectations. It’s not a bad thing to say that, but here is why expectations should be still pretty high.

The Transfer portal:
LSU currently is number 1 in transfer portal rankings. And that will continue throughout. The roster will be filled with more experience.

The Offense:
Best WR corp in the SEC for sure coming into next season. O line will be one of the tops as well. With Brennan returning LSU should be solid offensively.

SEC competition:
Besides maybe UGA and Alabama what school can this fan base name that is clearly better then LSU? It’s a reasonable schedule next year, with some quality games at home.

Good coaching staff:
LSU last season in several games was maybe a “play away”. In fact according to my research LSU led at one point in time in almost all of their games. Coaching will help LSU is these close games.

Dline:
Wingo, Smith, Ojulari, Gaye, Roy, Guillory, is a outstanding Dline.

Top 5-7 HC in the college game.
Brian Kelly you could argue is a top 4 coach behind Saban, Dabo, Smart. He is a proven winner. He is a coach that just knows how to win. LSU can win games with him.

Expectations:
Looking at the schedule and all the prices around this LSU program, I could see 10 wins from this team. Auburn, Florida, Texas AM have a a lot of new pieces as Freshmen, and those coaches do not have the experience of a Brian Kelly.

Good post and thank you for the info you’ve brought to the board. Sometimes things don’t work out and sometimes we are told things that don’t turn out to be accurate but the info sharing is appreciated nonetheless

I just want to be dominant in games we are supposed to dominate, be competitive in games we are supposed to be competitive in, and in games we are supposed to lose still come out swinging and playing smart and sound football. If we do those three things, it'll be a successful first year of the CBK era.

Just to play devil’s advocate, there’s some wins that just as easily could have been losses.

Having said that;

I’m not so sure these two are better coaches… we’ll see when the talent gap closes.

8-4 is probably a reason O/U for next year's team.

LSU is going to have several new faces on the roster and a completely new coaching staff. EXPECTATIONS of a 10 win season are largely based on sheer optimism.

The road schedule in even years is always more difficult for LSU. They will play at Auburn, Florida and A&M (along with Arkansas). I think you could argue Auburn, LSU and Florida all seem to be in the same boat right now. Could LSU beat both at their place? Sure. Is it reasonable to expect that to be the case? Probably not. A&M has won the last two game there and they probably have a bit better roster than LSU right now. Then we get Alabama at home...who LSU hasn't beaten in TS since 2010.

COULD LSU win 10 games next year? Sure. But I would not set that as the bar for expectations given it is a first year coaching staff, with a lot of new players, taking over a program that has struggled to hit .500 each of the last two seasons.

He’s better than Dabo. Dabo is glorified Orgeron, he’ll be exposed now that his coordinators are gone.

So Kirby wins a championship and he goes from a loser who wastes talent to a top 3 coach. Something not adding up.

Corners are a huge weakness for us atm. Hopefully we get that fixed with the portal or a stud recruit.

If we get better in the secondary, I see no reason why we can't be relatively successful next year.

Assuming of course, we stay healthy at key positions. I'm looking at you, BRENNAN.

More proof this board needs to take a "then" "than" class.

I agree with you for the most part & feel extremely optimistic about how far a good coaching staff can take the LSU FB program. Heck I don't disagree with anything you're saying. However I'm not necessarily as confident in the O-Line currently as you or how many teams I can confidently say LSU is better than. I'm a wait and see guy & I can't wait to see what a real experienced team of coaches can do in their 1st offseason, as of now it's far better than I anticipated!
