There is another gap that is just as wide.

100 years ago, most people in cities weren't that many generations removed from rural existence. And, even those that were had far closer ties and understanding of the reality that you simply cannot have tightly packed populations absent the existence of rural populations. We recognized our need for each other.

Hell, you don't even have to go back 100 years. Can you, in ANY context, imagine a bunch of liberals jumping on board with and pushing "Farm Aid" in the year 2022? LOL. Liberals fricking HATE the people you'd have seen at an 80s Farm Aid event.
