Masters Practice Rounds

I’ve always heard in some aspects the practice rounds are better than some of the tourney days. Safe to assume Tuesday and Wednesday better than Monday option?
Also any insight on how to obtain one of these without the egregious fees from 3rd party sites? Keen on trying to take my dad this year.
Also, open to being called a dummy if I am 6 months too late in planning to such a trip.

Def a great way to see Augusta without the throng of fans. Don’t get me wrong there are still a lot of “patrons” there but not quite as many. There are always tickets to be had if you want to pay the scalpers

I’ve been to a Monday practice round and, in a different year, to the tournament all 4 days. Practice rounds are great for seeing the course, more laid back, and we could take our cell phones in, which is forbidden during the tournament. Monday and Tuesday are similar; Wednesday has the par 3 tournament, which I’ve heard people say is a blast.
We got our practice round tickets from a scalper outside the gate; $100 for a $50 ticket. This was 15 years ago. This doesn’t happen with tournament passes because, if they’re busted, they lose the pass for all the years to come. Practice round tickets are only good for that year.

I actually won Tuesday practice rounds tickets from the lottery. The practice round was awesome, got to follow Tiger, Phil, and Freddie. After we went to Hooters in Augusta and guys were selling practice rounds tickets in there, I have no idea how much though, didn't ask because we were playing at Palmetto the next morning. We stayed in Aiken, SC, not a bad drive to Augusta at all. Hope some of this info helps.

That’s good info to know about the practice round tickets are yearly. Never occurred to me to book the trip and get the practice tickets by local means.

Never been to a tournament round but have been to all 3 practice round days. Each have their pluses. Walking out there when the gates open Monday morning and seeing the course in all its glory, having yet to be trampled on is a site to behold. There will be a lot of players there, but it won’t be all of them. It’s a great time to walk the course. Tuesday is the best day to watch the players. They’re all there and really working on shots, angles, different lies and getting it figured out. Wednesday with the par 3 and all the legends, wives, kids is fantastic. If you get a good spot you can get right up on them, but you will have to sacrifice a lot of your time on the main course if you post up at the par 3. I guess if I had to pick my favorite of the three practice round days it would be Tuesday. But they’re all great, obviously. Never have I seen them allow cell phones. If they do that it’s something they just started in the last 2-3 years. You can however bring a camera. First year I went my buddy got drawn for Monday. Next year I put in and got drawn for Wednesday. 2 years later I got drawn again but for Tuesday. No luck the last few years.
Get to the course when it opens. Get your shopping down immediately. But don’t hit the main shop by the entrance. Get in, and cut over to 16. There is an equally nice gift shop with a fraction of the people. Buy your shite and get them to hold it. Pick it up on the way out. Pound beer and sandwiches and walk the course if it’s your first time. By 3-4 o’clock you’re going to be spent. Which is fine. Collect your stuff, hit the room, shower and go post up at the bar at TBonz or Reinhardts early enough to get a table. Act like you have some money. The tour bunny’s will find you

I've done a few different practice round days and Thursday and Friday. I'd take Thursday and Friday every time.
On Thursday and Friday you get a tee sheet. Everyone plays 18 holes and they splits are a reasonable amount of time apart. On practice round days, you can sit on 16 for two hours and see 4 golfers come through. It's rare for guys to play 18 holes and it's very scattered when they go out. The inconsistency is my issue with practice round days.
All in all, go regardless.

You can’t take your cell phone in. You can take a camera in for the practice rounds. So you can take pictures of players and the course. Wednesday let’s you see the par 3 contest.

I thought we brought our phones in, but it was a long time ago (the year Dimarco almost beat Tiger; I remember my buddy Tigerbaiting Dimarco, which I wouldn’t recommend) and I’m getting old and forgetful. Obviously, you can’t now, anyway, judging by the other posts.

This will be our first year going Monday - can’t wait
Funny - can’t even get tickets to the AWA on Saturday - those tickets are $500+ each on ticket sites

I've owned badges for 21 yrs ...can't ever bring in a cell phone ...when u caught with cell it's put in a container and donated...you don't get it back....they have people in parking lot telling you about the no phone rule...if you choose to ignore it you will lose your phone permanently usually have a dz phones a day confiscated...I will be in Augusta by 11 on Wed and check into the west bank inn and head to parking lot about 1.ish...will catch 2 people leaving for the day in parking lot and will give them a story about never have been to masters and will have my Cannon 1D and zoom lens on my shoulder will talk them into giving me their tickets in consideration of $100..200 tops by 1:30-2 pm(I've never paid more than 200 and have been successful 100% of time ) I'm on property and off to walk some of course and snap pictures for 1hr or so then to par 3 till 6 then hit pro shop on way out to get needed souvenirs..so Thursday&Friday it's all golf...customers have tickets on weekend ...ticket broker offers are coming in at $8000 per badge this year...Covid has driven price up due to low to no patrons last 2 yrs..

Wow didn’t realize how strict the cell phone rule is. No sweat for my dad, he’s the only person I know that doesn’t own one!
