Honestly, I think Ted knew he'd get skewered and is banking on that being his penance. And in reality, he's probably correct.

Love Ted - since the first time I heard him speak - was my #1 candidate in '16 = still iked him with how he handled the loss in primary.
Until today, I've found reason to question his motive. - I will be on guard from now on.
Still one of the good guys, but this was not a good episode for him. Gonna have to look into that lame explanation to see just how much it can be trusted.

He’s still a fricking worm, but there are a whole lot of others who are that would never do that. I’m not sure what that gets him, but I guess it’s something.

Cruz made a political decision by making that statement thinking it would save him headaches going forward. It was purely political and a bad call. I don’t like this look on him at all.

Ted just oozes politician sleaze. He's smart, he's useful, etc. And I think Ted is legitimately an ambassador for most of our causes.
But he's a politician, guys who aspire to be a Senator are sociopaths. He can be a legitimate conservative and brilliant, but that doesn't eliminate the fact that he's an extreme narcissist who will ultimately trade ideology for self-glorification at times.

You buying that super-deliberate and brilliant Ted Cruz used over broad rhetoric like that in the context of a political establishment trying to make 1/6 into 9/11?

Tucker's most salient point was calling out Ted on claiming to be "misunderstood" when he's a practiced speaker and chooser of words.

Cruz has been consistent with calling attackers of LEO's domestic terrorists - this I can't argue. What alarmed me was the broadness of the statement without clarification. This may cost him a Senate seat. He's going to need more than a Tucker asslashing to redeem himself.

I agree not buying Cruz for 10 years referred to police assaults to be terrorists.
So, to overcome this conundrum for Cruz, just compile tape for the last 10 years to prove it. Put together a montage. If I don’t see it, not true.

First time I have seen him do that - to me, he has been as straight arrow as possible, and I tend to yield to his superior intellect and history. But this one is hard for me to digest - gonna have to keep a better eye on what he does now.
