Because the people clamoring for this first round of EV's are first and foremost doing so for virtue signaling. Everyone has to know that you have an EV, otherwise there is no reason to have it.

Seriously, they just screw up the grill and all the lines. Why? Make it the damn same with just batteries and you might get some baws to buy in.
