Spotted Fawn Area 6/Season Update

Mighty late to be seeing spotted fawns here. From what I understand, Area 6 has a late breeding season.
Any others seasonal updates/oddities from you all besides the weather?

When was that picture taken? Also, what general area of Area 6? There are areas within #6 that have a late rut, but I've never seen spotted fawns this late.

I hunt Raccourci island in area 6 and I saw spotted fawns a couple weeks ago. Got some real small ones on camera as well.

In the I-10 area of the basin, it is not unusual to see a spotted fawn in mid Nov. The latest I have seen a spotted fawn was a few days after Christmas. That little fawn probably weight only 15 lbs and wander around for 45 minutes by its self. It did not look healthy, so probably no mama.

I hunt area 6 around Marksville. Latest I’ve seen a spotted fawn is November but I always see them in September with momma.

A few days ago. Farmland, sugar country. PC Parish. Very healthy deer.
What does this tell you all just for learning/info purposes. Neighbors hunt and kill a ton, 1000’s of acres of woods all around and only sugarcane.
Very healthy population, no skinny deer, a lot of deer. For this area, very nice bucks, healthy does. I don’t know.
Could it be an overpopulation problem?
A deer mating in May? I feel this is more of a climate situation than anything but i don’t know.

Interesting. Unusual for you or normal? Thanks

Just means she got bred late. Pretty common where the doe ratio is out of wack as does will continue to go in estrus until bred.

This. Doe could have been bred early and aborted for one reason or another and had a chance to breed again.
In areas prone to flooding (especially spring flooding along the river) I know it can stress a doe to the point of aborting her fetus.

Very interesting & many thanks. So consensus is possibly too many does?
And/or the aborted fetus perhaps? It’s the only one I’ve seen so far this year.

Fawns can go through their first estrus cycle the first year as well which is typically later (third rut) Could be the offspring of one of the late bred fawns from last year

Saw one this weekend in area 8. Just like I saw a momma with yourlings getting "lightly" chased by a buck. Just strange cycles I guess. Maybe because of the weather extremes we have?

I really think weather is playing into a lot of this and at some point down the road everything will have to be reassessed.
Kinda like I miss tiger stadium night games where they sold blankets and you actually needed them!
