Players shouldn’t be forced to go to college to play professional sports. Basically every sport has some kind of alternative option except football.

If players are going to start this new trend of opting out for games they don’t care about, why make them have to be at school getting some degree they don’t want to have, either?

Football isn't baseball or basketball, there's simply not enough players and too many injuries for "minor leauge" and college football, no one cares or cared about the CFL, XFL, or European league...those were the "minors"...just cannot/ will not work

Nope. You can’t choose to sit out of the minor leagues to make it to the next level.

Hell with NIL deals you could almost call them pros.

Just get rid of the “student-athlete” designation. It corrupts the perception of what the game has become

Give them a degree in “gridiron studies” and pay them like minor leaguers ffs

But there are enough players to have over 122 division I college football teams? Not counting all of the other schools. Sounds good enough to me.

The fact of the matter is, people love college football. They don’t want this to happen because they don’t want to see college football show a lesser product.

If college football is going to have opt-outs and the NIL deals, why don’t we just go all the way and make the players not have to go to college.

We are kidding ourselves right now.

The pro leagues are the ones that fund the minor leagues. Why would the NFL do this? They basically already have a minor league system in college football and their athletes come into the league with built in fanbases and they don’t have to pay a dime for it.

Make them employees of the school and put in place a salary cap and profit sharing for the participating schools.

The NFL saving money doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for the players. If people truly care about the players and their well-being, they would let them be able to treat football as a full-time job without the collegiate restrictions.

With the transfer portal and the NIL, college has basically become one large free-agency, anyways.

NIL is a way for the players to get paid without it coming from the schools budget. Why would they agree to this?

I didn’t say it was right I was pointing out why it will never happen. The NFL would have to be the one to fund a true minor league and it be done right. They aren’t going to do it because college football already exist.

They don’t have to get a degree and really don’t have to go to college if they don’t want to but the NFL is a private business with a union and you are not eligible to work there until 3 years past HS

You really want to see the end of college football? A minor league for NFL would destroy college football.

I thought it’s about what’s best for the players? Are you saying there are some selfish reasons for fans that like to watch them play college football for their amusement?

It would end college football as we know it but wouldn’t destroy it. The money would go down and it would come closer to college basketball.

Because your already under contract with a team.

The NFL isn’t making a minor league.

They have no interest in making a minor league or scouting high schoolers and trying to decide if a high school kid is worth drafting.

So O’s buyout and Brian Kelly’s salary come out of the schools budget? I think not.

College is already the minor league of NFL. I would say most NFL players have NO legitimate college degree.
