The other side of the coin people are forgetting is risk capacity. Tolerance is how much you risk can stand. Capacity is how much risk you can afford to take.
Capacity of an 80 YO with substantial cash flow is high, but tolerance is low.
Then you might have a 20 year old with high tolerance but low capacity because he has poor cash flow and no emergency fund.
