You are ignorant to think it was Darontes fault the 1st half of the year. O got out of his own way. Before the season he specifically stated he was going to be much more involved with the defense and play calling. O threw Aranda under the bus for gods sake when he was here. To think an that an NFL coach took 8 games to realize he was playing base and never blitzing because an analyst told him is absurd. O’s stubbornness heals us back because he resorted to his Ole Miss days. You saw Daronte’s D from Bama on

I could definitely see that.

Remember LAST year- Bo fricking Pelini leaked to the press in mid-season that we weren't running the defense he would have chosen to. Said we didn't have the right players to do what we were doing; and yet we were doing it anyway. And O responded back that it didn't matter, fronts don't affect the secondary or something to that effect.

Pelini is not going to say we're running a scheme that doesn't fit the players, if that is his scheme. He didn't say they were working to correct things, he said it was the wrong scheme. Wrong front.

That meant O was mandating "we're going to do it this way because I'm the head coach".

Got rid of Pelini, couldn't find an experienced coordinator to take over. Took an inexperienced guy from the NFL, who didn't have the clout to challenge him.
And apparently kept trying to do the same thing he did in 2020.
Then he was officially fired, and ... I guess relented. And from that moment on, LSU looked like a competent and fast defense. *Who knows, perhaps Pelini would have, too. It sure sounded like he had different ideas on how to do things.

Boils down to this- Orgeron didn't have the tactical acumen to run a defense (or team). He had ideas, but no in-depth knowledge or feel. He sat back and watched, and when he saw something he liked, he wanted to repeat that- but didn't understand how it was done.
He did that with the offense, too. He wanted a passing game, but couldn't begin to craft it himself.

It worked when he stayed on the sidelines, but when his ego got involved and he wanted it to be "his", everything collapsed.

Any coach that allows the scheme to be what we saw in the first 8 games...even if the head coach is meddling is shite.

You can’t have it. You need someone with more backbone and ability to convince important people that your way is the best way...or, at minimum, the current way is retarded.

This is bullshite, defensive analyst proposed and implemented the run blitz to take away the run in the RPO and force short passes.

DJ at DC is not the answer. Look at the players who quit on him, he had more quitters than Pelini!!
