My dad ran out of gas mowing the lawn and gave me a plastic milk gallon jug and told me to go get gas on my bike.

i filled it up and put it in my backpack and about halfway home the jug dissolved and soaked me in gasoline. that shite burned!

What sort of milk jug did he give you? When I was a kid we used old milk jugs for lawnmower gas and never had one dissolve. I don’t think we had an actual gas can until I was almost a teenager.

I know for a fact that gas will eat through a Solo cup. We were camping in the neighborhood woods and wanted gas to start a fire but promised my Dad we wouldn’t use gas. After he went to sleep, I snuck to the house and poured some in a solo cup to bring back to the campsite. Halfway back, I noticed the cup getting slippery and then all the gas fell from the bottom. Ate straight through the cup. In the morning, I reeked of gasoline and got in trouble.

My dad was a wireline operator, he once took us on a job on a jack up barge in the marsh, dirty magazines everywhere, pantry full of candy bars and chips, cook would make us whatever we wanted. He took me on the rig one night and let me sit with him in the wire line unit while he worked. That was 3 crazy days.

Also, my brother was a bed wetter, he passed out in the bunk in the wheel house one day and flooded that SOB I’m sure the captain loved that!

This was the early 80s, safety was nothing but a word, what a time to be alive

My dad let me and my brother do a lot of questionable things growing up but the one that would have gotten us in the most trouble was that I was the youngest person in my grade and everyone else got their driver's license our sophmore year except me. I was literally the only person without a license.

He said that if everyone else was driving it wouldn't matter for me to be driving, it also kept him from having to drive me and my little brother to school each morning (which was the opposite way of his work). I prolly drove for a solid year without a license.
