Obama and Nancy need to support desalinization plants starting right now. Everyone knows their multi million dollar houses on the east coast will soon be under water if the oceans continue to rise .....Soak up some of rising ocean and put it to use. Otherwise ..buy a frikkin canoe.

Can someone teach me something here?

Why don't we just pipe in ocean water to desert areas, that aren't growing anything of value anyway, & let the land soak up the water to refill the aquifers? Don't the ground layers filter out the salt/minerals on the way down anyway?

Here's my pet peeve. How much gas is wasted each year cutting the grass along America's highways?

It's totally unnecessary. A native turf grass called Buffalo grass was once prevalent on the great plains. It is similar to Zoysa in that it grows sideways not up so it doesn't need cutting and is hardy enough to grow in Northern climates.

Seems green to me, getting the tractors and mowers off the highways would save lives and gas.

I can’t fathom how much it would cost to install field turf on an entire golf course. It also wouldn’t last. It would get completely worn down and have to be replaced often.

Other than that turf interaction would essentially be uniform throughout the entorter course..

I would say that basically putting a synthetic carpet over 300 acres would not be a net positive for the environment.

Using hybrid grasses that require less water and increasing natural areas (decreasing areas where mowing and watering is necessary) is the better way to go.

I cant sniff a fairway with my driver. So the idea of a golf course in the desert is pretty appealing to me.

Assuming the beer girl comes around every other hole or so.

I've always thought that was stupid - even without the 'climate change' aspect.

Seems like flagrant consumption of valuable resource just because you got the $$ - meanwhile farmer have to beg for water.

Not right - at all.

Play on the ground nature provides you. = with big money you can go there.

JC the planet is dying. We could blow up every nuclear weapon on earth and it would still recover

Way easier than in Antarctica. See Desert Pines in Las Vegas.
