Marketing firm(s). Let them play middle men. They pay to have the rights for the players, business hire the firm(s) at an upcharge to use those same players.

I.e., the players NIL becomes a retail, not wholesale, commodity. Just like you don't buy your Snickers direct from Mars or your Natty Light direct from Busch in St. Louis.

The benefit of this is two fold:
1. Adds a layer of protection for the school's involvement known as plausible deniability.

2. If you hire the marketing firm for other things, big or small, you can overpay there to make sure you are getting to as many players/recruits as possible.

As for the people who say you can't make it work because those firms or businesses want a return on their investment...
- yeah, and labor unions are ONLY for better working conditions, the mob has nothing to do with it
- No one gives recruits impermissible benefits because it is against the rules
- all those BYU walk ons are damn sure worth it right?
- we're the government and we're here to help... we don't play favorites
- Journalists don't lie
- Wedding vows are binding

... Those business will be your bagmen. The marketing firms are the 501c3 who laundered it.

On that note: Non-Profits are/will be great for this. Think about it. You setup non-profit for climate change, DEI, David Duke Foundation, or whatever strikes your fancy no matter where your beliefs lie. You take "donations" from boosters. Foundation needs advertising praising the virtue of those donors, you hire the marketing firm who has the 3rd string players on retail.

I'll cut the check for $600 yearly right now. My wife wastes that easily in a year, I can too if I want.

This is not going to end well for schools with less corporate support. But it will create a bunch of student nillonaires.

You're still thinking about this wrong.

It isn't about advertising dollars for corporations to pay players for their image/likeness who happen to go to LSU. I repeat- NOT about that... truly about that, in the real world.

What it is, in real fact, is about LSU paying players to have the image/likeness at LSU using advertising dollars and those corporations to launder it.

This NIL thing was only going to go one way- and that is it. There's only two differences between now and the old way of regular "impermissible benefits":

1. It is less hidden, therefore you have to do it and let the recruits know you are doing it with only a thin veil instead of in the shadows. If you competition is sending out the NIL bat signal and you aren't, you will lose off the field and thus on the field. Don't hide it, just mask it. Let the CFB world know you are doing it.

2. NIL ain't just for 5*'s. You paid the studs the real money in the past. Lesser players got some, but nothing approaching cost of tuition (or greater). Now you can throw booster money to even practice squad. Teams that do that will have the depth to compete in championships. Why ride the bench AND pay tuition when you can ride the bench and have school paid for (plus a little juice).

I find it hard to believe the power brokers and Scott Woodward have not been working on a NIL program for LSU to compete with the other power 5 schools.

With the volume here, the egg could be quite attractive. Cool idea.

Talk to Shaq and have him get some Papa John’s sponsorships for the players!
