What would you give to beat Alabama?

Would you be willing to lose 2 or 3 more games if BAMA was in the win column?

Remember when we'd beat Ole Miss in October and everyone would yell "BRING ON BAMA!" we all knew that this year would be the year we beat those Lucifarians.

Any way, What would you give to beat Bama?

THOSE OVER 40 who remember the 10 years of being cheated and downright subjected to the Houndstooth hell.

Right now, I'd rather beat UF and not because they are the next game, but because I've lived here now for nearly 20 years and really, really love to beat them more than ANY other team on our schedule. But I know what you are saying. All those years of futility against them was indeed frustrating. I would be really pumped to beat them this year though mostly because of their current success and ranking. By the way it was 12 years of losses in a row between '69 and '81. The futility to UF between '88 and '01 was almost as bad, (save for'97) maybe worse because Spurrier was so obnoxious and Bryant was anything but.

If the college football genie could guarantee LSU only one loss for the season, and it had to be AL, I would take the one loss, rather than two or three losses.

My full support, and the temporary use of my vocal chords.

Of course not.

Yes, I remember it well. I also remember when the idea of a phone in your car, let alone one that you carry around in your pocket, seemed like a crazy notion, and when CEOs of major technology companies said it was ridiculous to think that people would ever want to have a "personal" computer in their home. Times change, and those days of Mac's inferiority complex about the cheating alcoholic are long gone.

In all fairness, the Bammers were actually not that obnoxious about it back then. They didn't become really obnoxious until we started beating them.

No way I'm willing to lose 2 or 3 other games to beat Bama? Which 2 or 3? This year those 2 or 3 teams will probably be ranked lower than Bama in the final polls. A one loss season may still get us a shot at the NC. That's what LSU is in contention for every year. When your biggest focus is beating your most hated rival, it probably means you have a mediocre program at best.

That is the only thing I can say about the Bear. He didn't rub it in your face. He was actually good friends with Chollie Mac and a nice guy in person so I have heard.

Anyway, it was my youth and those 12 years still sting. We have 5 in a row and I want 7 more. Then I'll say "we're even."

Very low and under my breath.

In the day it was a very big deal to beat Bama. I remember when we beat them at Legion Field in a driving rain. it was just amazing. But Bama has been Irrelevant for a decade and a half....even to us old guys. Now, it means more to beat Auburn in J-H or Florida in the Swamp. The sweetest would be a chance to humiliate USC. Though this year could be the beginning of a new era. This Bama team feels different, like they mean something.

By the way, I don't want to lose any game, I was only asking if we had to lose, and if more than one, what would you give up to beat Bama?

that was it.

One other thing. We beat all of the teams I don't like last year. We lost to Ky and AK, and I guess after the blue grass miracle, we were due and I actually like Arkansas, especially when Houston was coaching them. I never took the losses last year that hard. Let me lose to Florida, Bama or Auburn and the season has a whole different aspect to it.

Nothing more than I would give to beat Auburn, Miss State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy or South Carolina. Yea, they used to beat us all the time, including ever year at Tiger Stadium, but it has been a long time since they dominated anyone. It is just another SEC game.
Hopefully both teams will be undefeated and playing for first place and a slot in the SEC Championship game. That would mean something.

We don't have to give up anything - we're going to beat them. I want a repeat of 08 & 58.

Understand the point. We remember the Bear years vividly and the sting has gone with the past few years, but we still want to win them all and not give an inch to any others.

Coach Bryant was Charlie's Head Coach. He played for the Bear at Kentucky.
