Dove hunting around DFW

Just moved to DFW and I’m looking for dove hunting recommendations within a two hour drive for myself and my eight year old son.
I grew up duck hunting, but have never been dove hunting - so we’re both beginners.
I’m thinking we start with guided hunts over the next few seasons, and then hopefully move into a lease / club if he enjoys dove hunting. Recommendations for either are appreciated (or corrections if I’m way off base)
Thanks.

Dry Creek Outfitters in Wichita Falls has access to dove fields galore.
Our group has been going with them about 10 years in a row now.

Don’t know if you are talking about now or Sept. there is a winter season in some areas from 17 Dec to 14 Jan.
We have some property south of Abeline, prime dove hunting territory. I can tell you that there are very few birds right now. Numbers may pump up over the next few weeks. Lots of places to day hunt around Coleman a d Abeline. Usually 100 to 150 bucks per day.
I saw thousands of birds in March and April, was super hopeful our 20 acres of sunflowers and millet would bring them in. We did well in Sept. not as well as I had hoped.
Not as sure about closer to DFW. But my guess is that it’s not that different.

quote:Dove hunting was one of my favorite kinds of hunting, especially as a kid. I squirrel hunted in the woods near my parents house every day after school, and enjoyed it, but the dove hunts my dad took me on were real treats.
have never been dove hunting - so we’re both beginners.
