Watching the highlights doesn't look as bad.

LINK

We had something going and the sacks were just drive killers.

I think Pete Carmichael need to work in more quick passing plays and get away from doing deep drops. The line at this point in time just can't hold it long enough.

Carr needs to speed up the clock
and get the ball out sooner even if it means throwing it out of bounds. Better an incompletion than a sack. I'll be glad when Kamara gets back so we can have a dynamic check down threat.

I'll check out your link in a minute, but didn't Carr say he needed to slow things down - for him?

You can't speed up the clock if the play calls for a specific drop back. Those plays are designed for the routes to take a certain amount of time to develop.

Can't fault Carr for immediate pressure before or right when he hits his drop. That's on the oline and play calling/scheming.

So go back to ealier when you said Carmichael needs to fix it. That is the answer. Oline needs to wake the frick up.

Edit: Not to say Carr didn't make mistakes. He and the receivers are obviously still trying to get on the same page, and he missed reading an underneath defender on both of his ints.

Some 5 or 7 step drop backs are stupid when your OL needed the quick game to slow things down.

I can 100% blame Penning for losing, he's still learning.

0 reason at all Frankie Luvu who is only 235 lbs should bulldoze a 315lb Cesar Ruiz.

The timing is absolutely atrocious at times. Some of those passes mike adjusted really well, but some you felt they didn't "know each other" like we did with Brees.

Some of them were also situational, 2 minute drill get to the sticks. Why is OLave running a 15 yard route when Carr is hitting him at 10-12 yards instead and completely missing.

Trevor Penning blows goats no matter how many times you watch it.

I don't want to make that judgment on Penning yet. I think he has potential, but yeah, it hasn't looked great yet. Even McCoy and Ram got beat on plays too. Ruiz got bull-rushed also. I'd like our O-Line to continue to gel and see what happens. Let's see we're we at 9-10 games into the season.

If he's that bad, the coaches will move him or bench him. A bunch of fans screaming about a player playing in his first games is always good entertainment.

He's getting valuable reps and the hope is that he improves. It's rare for tackles to come out of the gates ready to play at this level.

It's amazing how all the other tackles have played against the best DEs around many for years. And still get beat. But they learn and see their moves and adapt. I expect young Penning will learn or find something else to do.

Not flaming and a serious question: Why do you think he has potential? He seems to have slow feet and looks like he’s more cut out for a run blocking guard.

If Kamara had been playing it would have been 27-17. The RB not turning and looking for the ball and dropping the TD wouldn't have happened.

Not impressed with Carr's performance. Dude was inaccurate and inconsistent.

Ok guy.

Might as well put a tackling dummy at LT until then. Derek Carr is going to get David Carr’d.

He's not that bad, pal. What world do you live in? Obviously he needs a bit of help and it's up to Pete to make sure he gets it until he's settled in. Why doesn't he get a fair chance to improve?

I was reading a thread over at saintsreport and that guy TCUDan says that blocking league wide has been poor and he attributes it to the shortened preseason and lack of reps.

O-line is a unit. It's not just Penning that's giving up pressure. I don't know how much better it'll get but we haven't had time to see it yet with only two games played.

It's also more guys coming out early and playing in more zone read schemes.

I'd agree and it makes way too much sense for some fans.

I heart this. Welcome back Paddy.
