Yikes. Dennis Allen didn’t inspire a ton of confidence in his first season as New Orleans Saints head coach, which looked worse given his discouraging three-year run with the Raiders back in the day. The Saints struggled to finish with a 7-10 record, and Allen’s performance prompted the 33rd Team’s Ross Tucker to rank him all the way down at No. 27 out of the league’s 32 head coaches.

I’m not sure Dennis Allen is a bad coach, but he hasn’t done anything yet to prove he’s a good one,” Tucker wrote. “Perhaps this is the year since his New Orleans Saints are the clear favorite in a wide-open NFC South.”

Allen will finally make the playoffs this season, or he'll never be an NFL HC again.

He has the tools he needs this year I think he can flip flop that record and win 10 games this season.

3 1/4 seasons of evidence have been laid out before this Tucker clown and if he hasn’t figured it out yet he shouldn’t have a job writing about the NFL.

No winning seasons, 28% winning percentage, won back to back games exactly one time.

Most of you on here were fine with the hire. It’s hard to believe there are coaches ranked worse than him.

You're replying to me and I implore you to conduct a quick search to see if I was fine with the hire.

Hint: I wasn't.

There was plenty said by all of us for plenty of reasons.
Don't need you to tell us what we all said.
Quote us if you like.

Seems about right. I think he could possibly straighten it out but he’s honestly shown nothing to be confident about.

I was fine with the hire. I still am. It made sense at the time. Their was not a lot of quality coaches floating around at the time our old coach pulled his disappearing act. Allen wound up with 2 mediocre starting QB's, our top WR being a rookie draft pick because of injuries and a team decimated with injuries for the second year in a row. That was last year. I like the direction we are now headed and the moves that Allen and the team have made. If the team doesn't make the playoffs this season and there is no definite improvement in their performance then I am also fine with cutting Allen loose and moving on. What Allen has not accomplished to date doesn't make a shite going forward. Many of the most successful people in the world stumbled, faltered and struggled. Until they didn't.

they said that about him the last time too.

but he does well enough at DC that someone might kick the tires on him one more time after he leaves here after this year and becomes a DC again.

he is the joe biden of football, never underestimate his ability to screw things up

Naw...If he cant win this weak divison this year and get fired down the line. He will not get another HC job that will look bad as hell on his resume not winning this weak divison. Everyone is basically rebuilding but us with a veteran team.

Allen making the playoffs with this team in this weak division won’t mean much. Any average coach should be able to coach this team to the playoffs. Our depth has taken a hit but most starting positions are pretty strong and we have the best QB in the division until Bryce Young proves himself or busts.

I've been saying it since last season..

Did people try to convince themselves otherwise in the off-season?

Team can be great..shitty coaching will sabotage.

Yep. Winning the division/making the playoffs means zero. I've not yet heard a convincing argument why WE are better than anyone. It's all "CAR/TB/ATL sucks with uncertain QB rooms" and "NO has an easy schedule."

Win a playoff game or fire him. It's that simple.

In terms of veteran NFL head coaches, only Brandon Staley is worse than Dennis Allen. Staley is nothing short of a fricking idiot. He is shite on a stick without the stick.
