So he’s admitting he could have accomplished that in his first term and failed to do it.

This should've been ended long ago...if I'm not mistaken, the 14th amendment was brought on to facilitate the slaves after the civil war.
It was a good thing back then, but I think it is hurting us more now than ever.

I don't see how an EO would do anything given the 14th Amendment and a variety of Supreme Court decisions.

Also, I know people will reference "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof", but I don't think that is an EO type of issue, it is up to the Supreme Court to determine what that means. They pretty much have...but they could change their mind.
What an EO like this could do, especially if worded specifically to this narrow language, would be to force a challenge through the courts that makes its way to the Supremes

I believe there was a footnote in a Supreme Court decision that has been used to justify birthright citizenship, not a Supreme Court case directly ruling on the issue. IF trump did this, the court would take up the issue.

There have been a bunch of cases that have always, universally supported Birthright Citizenship (US v Wong being one that I recall)
Its that "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" that gets people arguing.
An explicit EO targeting that phrase only I guess could get it moving through the Courts to the SpCrt.
The courts have been clear so far that they support the 14th Amendment as giving birthright citizenship to legals and illegals
