Better or worse than the American version? My gf's family is from England and said the Swedish version is much more graphic, but I don't wanna waste a couple of hours if its not overall a better film

I've only seen the Sweedish version, so I can't compare but I thought it was a very good film and would recommend it.

I haven't seen it either, but it's been my experience that any film that's adapted from a previous film(or at least made from a book first) in another country....the 1st version is usually way more graphic and shocking etc. But we usually at least improve on the story and cinematography, when it's made for an American audience. Even if it's lacking some of the shock value.

I've only seen the Swedish version...not a snob, it just worked out that way. It's definitely worth a watch.

I saw the first half of the Swedish second movie and thought the acting was pretty weak.

I liked it better, but that's probably because I saw it first. Noomi Rapace is awesome as Lisbeth. I liked the ending better, but Fincher's version is technically better all around. FWIW...I loved the Swedish version.

I didn't think so. I thought they were basically the same. There's only one thing I can think of that's slightly more graphic, but it's a very minor and almost insignificant part of the movie...I might not even remember it correctly. Long story short...they're very comparable in their depictions.

I agree with this.

The American version stays much closer to the book

I saw the Swedish version a long time before I saw the American version so time may have affected my judgment but I liked the Swedish version better. But I also worked with Fincher and I hate him.

Loved both movies, I enjoyed the Swedish version more simply because I saw it first right after reading the books.

Well, the girl is hotter in the American version. So USA FTW.

The Swedish version is actually 3 movies that dovetail into each other. The trilogy is awesome compared to the American version that leaves out a lot of the intrigue and some graphic violence, which makes the Swedish version much much better.

I've seen all three Swedish movies after reading the books. I haven't seen the American movie yet. With the exception of Noomi Rapace playing a killer version of Lisbeth Salander, I thought all the movies were just ok. The second was the weekest. It really skims through so much stuff that I felt like I was watching cliff notes more than a movie based off of the book. Kind of like Harry Potter GoF.

Besides Repace, I didn't care for any of the other actors or how Blomkvist was portrayed, espescially in the first movie. He was kind of a pussy. I'm hoping Craig brings a little more machismo to the character.
