Marine Corps Officer Candidate School

I’m attempting to go to Marine OCS in January. Created this account to hopefully some advice on going.
Any information that can be provided on this subject is appreciated. I’m also 30 and will be one of the oldest candidates there, so any encouragement via personal testimony or had older classmates is appreciated also.

Asking advice on this matter from the OT should disqualify you from any officer candidate school forever.

What's your favorite flavor crayon?

This is not the place to come for real advice. Talk to a Marine Corps recruiter.

THIS. The thought of our future military leaders getting advice in the O-T Lounge pretty much confirms my premonition that, as a nation, we are fricked!

There's always the Salivation Army

It's different than enlisted basic training. Easy to get out, hard to stay. You have to prove you belong there every day.

I don't think you're a good candidate as you are already showing your self doubt by coming here. You are 8 years older, prior service, and competing against a bunch of 22 year old kids straight out of college to show your worth.
As an E-7 if that doesn't reassure you that you are going to be just fine, then you don't seem like the type of person I want leading me, as you don't even trust yourself.

Cool man. Thanks for the encouragement. It’s not self-doubt. It’s doing due diligence and reaching out to available resources in order to muster the most information possible.
Edit:
But I’d be mad too if my team just lost to Georgia State.

What branch, rank, and MOS were you prior?

I went through the January class back in 2011. Standby to freeze your arse off. Nothing like busting all the ice off of the creeks so you can jump right in.

I'm Navy and already hate you.

Now you just sound like a bitch. Can't handle some internet shenanigans? Good luck

30 years ago there were some physical prep “suggestions”, like running 3 miles in less than 20 minutes, certain number of situps/crunches in a minute, etc.
Talk to somebody at the recruiting office and see if they have current info.
