Body Cam shows Florida man killed by Deputy with one shot.

These cops today are so goddamned quick to pull a trigger without knowing what the frick is going on. Dude was just clearing brush. Cop shows up, sees his hatchet and wham! One shot, homeowner is dead. I mean, this is straight up murder.
*update: a number of posters have questioned if he was on his property. All reports say he was shot in the 7200 block of Morse Avenue in Jacksonville, FL. I looked the guy up:
Kevin Lee Mahan - residing at 7278 Morse Avenue, Jacksonville, FL
So, I used Google Earth. Using this, I was able to see where the deputy came in from and where he was shot and killed. Key markers are the red brick house with white trim around windows/doors, and the blue/green pool slide seen in the deputy's body-cam video. 2728 Morse Ave via Google Earth
Further, in this screen grab from the body cam, you can see the roof silhouette through the trees of the victim's home in the image below.
Was he on his own property? Maybe, and maybe not. Either way, it appears that he was busy clearing brush and that the way those properties around him were set up there may not be a clear delineation of the property lines. I'm staying with he was murdered. Likely on his own property by a too close neighbor that likely had had run-ins with the victim and oversold the issue to police.

That was unnecessary.
But in that situation you have to think about saving your life. Put the damn ax down and hands up and this is likely not a story.

Man that sucks, but I just don't understand what the guy was doing. Cop is clearly yelling "PUT THE AXE DOWN" multiple times...so the dude raises it next to his head in what could be construed as an attempt to throw it at the officer?

Lots of people are pretty good at throwing axes these days. It really isn't that difficult. They'll even let you get totally wasted while you throw axes in a bar.

No matter what the issue that was occurring and even with the red shirt guy saying no to putting the ax down, the deputy had distance as a option, continued talking, eating for back up, multiple stuff.
I will say that even if I’m not doing anything wrong and I’m just cutting up firewood in my back yard and they come through the gate and with guns drawn, tell me to drop the ax, I’m gonna do it. I’m just not pushing the issue while holding an ax with a gun pointed at me.

The article says the cops were called because an armed man was in the woods making threats. I’d like to hear more about that before drawing a conclusion
