Planning on going down to Louisiana for UT/LSU…

The girlfriend has never been to NOLA outside of passing through it and wants to stay there. I told her it’s not worth it. She’s adamant that she wants to see it. I said we’d stay on the north shore and we could visit the city during the day if she really wanted to. She wants to stay at one of the nicer places (I.e., Monteleone, NOPSI, W) and visit the casino. The crime statistics and words of caution from me and some folks in my family don’t seem to be a deterrent to her.
Is this worth arguing over, or should I just let her win and prepare for the worst?

Well, it sounds like she is planning on visiting the quarter…you might want to be sure you are present!

How early are you leaving. Ideally, you'd want to wake up on Thursday or get to NOLA Thursday for lunch. Experience Cafe Du Monde beignets, walk around the French Quarter, get a few great meals. Have Thursday night and some of the day Friday.
New Orleans is a great place, don't let it be ruined. Definitely go with New Orleans and experience the LSU tailgating and walking around the campus. New Orleans/Baton Rouge is a great trip.
Fri and Sat night Hampton Inn Denham Springs has rooms still 218 non refund
Hampton Inn College Dr 273 non ref and Tru by Hilton Corporate/College Dr 238 non ref
If you just wanted to do just Sat night in BR.
Also, looking at Covington/Hammond, they are wanting 160-190....if you wanted to do Saturday there, and then head back East
