I've always felt that it should not be ruled a HR if the fielder dives for and misses a fly ball that could easily be played for a single.

Can't really give an error if he has to dive to make the play. So what would you rule it if not an in the park HR?

Good question. A single and a 3 base error? Not sure if that’s possible either since it isn’t a throwing error.
