The answer is: it’s baseball in February. Patience, grasshopper.

Its the opening weekend and the sky is already falling. The majority of our fan base is horrible.

We aren’t going to be that bad and they aren’t going to be that good.

They are pretty good but the pitching was really bad.

Notre Dame certainly isn’t good. I think what we saw this weekend was just us playing down to an inferior opponent and not taking them seriously. Should be a real eye opener.

I would expect significant progress over the season, but not buying your explanation. ND may have maxed out their ability this weekend but that doesn't explain LSU's poor performance. A lot of the guys would have no business "overlooking" any opponent if that's all they are bringing on game day.

I would suspect both are somewhere in between. Best to allow the season to play out and the answer will become evident.

The answer is probably neither but we won’t know for another month possibly two. The lineup and the way the pitching staff was used this weekend will look nothing like where it will be in May. CPM deserves the benefit of the doubt that he will figure it out and make a late run. He has done it for 11 years in a row.
This time last year Hess was battling for Sunday role with Walker. Newman was our closer. Duplantis was in center Zach Watson was on the bench. Beau was the starting left fielder.

Notre Dame is becoming LSU’s daddy as of late

This isn't the case. Find other LSU boards and you don't have that problem. It's not a fan base problem it's a TD problem.

We are not good- right now. I do trust the offense on this team to step up. I also trust Dunn and PM will grow more comfortable with a rotation for this staff and we'll get a lot better. We need a couple young arms to step up so we can properly arrange our rotation. We won't challenge Omaha but I think this team competes to host a regional eventually

neither. basically, we underperformed and they overperformed. they overperformed because our pitchers could not throw strikes. the same thing happened at the beginning of last year. imo, it is becoming a "thing" with Dunns' pitchers. my theory is that they are overcoached and it takes them a while to get their confidence and not overthink their delivery. but that is just an attempt to understand how an entire staff can't find the zone. of course, when the pitcher constantly gets behind in the count he serves up a lot of meatballs to avoid walks. so we basically gave the Irish tons of free passes and pitches right over the plate. if we played them again in a few weeks it might be a complete different story.
my main bitch is that I don't think our defense or batting was up to snuff for the opening series. that is easily fixed.
we will most definitely improve and probably quickly on defense and hitting. I also think our pitching will come around but I am concerned about our first two starters.
all teams have to find their stride and PM will work this out.

Offense never had a chance, the pitching all three games was the worst I've seen in a long time. No one could throw strikes or manage the run game.
They need Labas and Storz bad!
The scouts after one weekend already put Gilbert and Hess back in the bullpen for their future prospects.
Can't believe the pitching was that bad.
