Will LSU ever be a basketball powerhouse again?

I was at LSU in the late 80's and early 90's. LSU was an Elite 8 in 85 and 87. We were a consistent top 20 team and probably had one of the greatest teams on the college level during the Shaq-era. (I said one of, not the greatest).
We had two of the greatest players of that era with CJ and Shaq.
Will LSU ever return to this upper echelon of college basketball.
We have become a football school first and baseball second since this era, unlike most other schools in the country. Back in that era, we were football, then basketball.

u already know the answer. But yes not sure if this administration can hold Wade but the excitement is at hand to see don't you think

I sure hope we're on that path, gotta keep Wade.

I think so. Will Wade gets the train rolling and recruits will want to become Tigers.

I don't know the answer and get the feeling the answer is no. The top recruits don't want to go to a school where the basketball team plays third fiddle.
We will have flashes of success, such as when we made it to final four 10 years ago, or will have a blue chip recruit but no team to back him, like with the Australian kid a couple years ago.

Um... not quite. But why were you trying to sell it short when it was actually:
‘86 = Final Four
‘87 = Elite Eight
‘85 = 1st round bounce

Uhhhhhh
Naz Reid
Javonte Smart
Darius Days
Emmitt Williams (maybe)
What the hell are you talking about, all 4 of those guys are top 50 nationally)
Also, they don't really give a shite about "playing third fiddle" they want a coach that can get them to the NBA

Many on here will disagree - but this will change if the basketball team wins and becomes a “powerhouse”

This is verifiably false based on our incoming class.

So you don't even know we have a top 5 class coming next year but you somehow can project the future of the program? Get the frick out

Where do I project the next ten years?

I edited.
Don't deflect. What's your basis for your opinion on the future of the program when you don't even know the caliber of recruits Wade is hauling in?

Will Wade will have this program in the top 10 by year 3

When you see this team next year all your questions will fade away.

Still waiting to see if OP will acknowledge that he had no clue about how good the recruiting class is next year...

If WW continues to recruit like he has done already in a short time, LSU will be a contender in the SEC year-in-and-year-out.
