Great recruiter but no game smarts....I remember watching the ESPN special on LSU when we had Shaquille, Roberts, and Chris Jackson...The entire season was chronicaled as I guess they thought we were going undefeated or something....and ever time they stuck a mic in a sideline huddle it was all Tony Robbins shite with ZERO basketball accumine. Dale was and will always be know as a great motivator and that was his thing....Les gets um to sign up and believe but it ends there..I really belive if not for Chavis Les would have been gone by now. .....although I can't remember this much hate being showered on Dale.

Les Miles << Dale Brown
Dale built a great program from dirt. Les held onto the reigns of a great program already built.

Good point....Reason #425 why I hate the Hat.

People actually hate the hat? I can understand disliking him as a coach, but actually hating him? why?

How many NCs did Dale win? He had Shaq and Chris Jackson at the same time. It was excruciating to watch. Dale was much, much worse than Les. Remember this

Hate may have been a little strong....I believe him to be an honorable man....ethics, morals,...blah blah blah....but a football coach he is not. I hate where he is taking this program.

Bob Knight, as much as dildeaux as he was, had some of the best results ever for a coach.
LSU has played Kentucky over 100 times in their history. Before Dale Brown came, LSU had beaten them twice. Dale Brown's teams beat Kentucky 18 times. Kentucky is the winningest NCAA D-1 team in history, so Dale knew how to coach very well. A couple of the more talented teams underachieved, but a lot of the less talented teams overachieved.
Also, LSU didn't even make the NCAA tournament when Pistol Pete was at LSU. Dale Brown changed that. He took nothing and made it into something.

Much worse. More like Coker without instate competition. Actually Coker was better too.

The meaning is almost exactly what Saban said last week when he told his defense to go out and hold them to 3 points "when we were 1st and goal on their 6 yd line" then we will march down the field with a minute left and tie it up and then win it in overtime. The difference is the wording

Here is the part that scares me the most, right now who would not have taken Dale Brown to run LSU's basketball program over the past 20yrs if you knew you would have had the same success he had when he was coaching. I can promise I would have said sign him up!!!!!

Dale Brown made LSU basketball what it was. He took teams to two final fours, and a final eight, and many, many sweet 16s......he may not have been a great x and o guy, but he built that program from scratch...for you to degrade him over it is pathetic.

In all due fairness to Dale Brown ... it is not his fault that Shaq couldn't hit a free throw to save his life ... then or now.
I am not sure that we will EVER see that talented of an LSU team again ... an LSU team that did not make the Final Four.
Somehow ... Dale made the Final Four with much less, though.

Dale Brown built the basketball program after pulling it out of the gutter. He's not given enough credit for his accomplishments on and off the court. He had a far better instincts than Miles has.

You all seem to miss the OPs point. We loved Dale and what he did for the school. Same thing with Les. Neither seem to be the coach to get the talent they have over the hump. That is how they are similar.

See Texas and Mack Brown. That's what is coming unless Miles removes himself from the offense and stops recruiting "dual threat" Qb's to run an old school, up the middle, pocket passing "pro-ish" offense.
