This is going to be a long Nuss post, and probably a large waste of time, but let's look at Nuss' stats and highlights with a few time stamps.
Youtube Link for Nuss Highlights
Now the above video is just Nuss highlights. Not his failures, but there are a few in here. Let's look at his stats just so we can have a baseline.
CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT
2022 52 84 61.9 800 9.5 5 4
2021 29 57 50.9 329 5.8 2 2
First 48 seconds are against Southern and New Mexico. Bunch of check downs really.
48 seconds- Nice deep pass, a bit overthrown.
54 seconds- Shallow out route. Better DB breaks this up, possible interception maybe pick 6. Results in a TD though.
1:18- Georgia Game- Nice play in traffic.
1:31- Double coverage, back up FRESHMAN Safety this should have been a pick. Results in a TD though.
1:54- Great throw. Double coverage, led his WR enough.
2:13- RISKY THROW. Back leg, falling away. Taylor makes a great play.
3:20- TERRIBLE THROW INTO DOUBLE COVERAGE. Absolutely getting picked, but backups are in the game.
3:40- Great throw
3:52- Back leg, falling away throw. Underthrown but WR makes a great play on it.
4:05- Nice spin out, nice throw to a Wide open WR.
4:35- High throw to Mayson.
Rest of the video- Purdue which we know wasn't much competition. Lot of outs, ins, shallow crosses. Plenty of YAC.
Nuss makes risky throws a lot of times. He's gotten away with it quite a few times, which only reinforces that mindset. If you want to know why he isn't starting, it's because BK values ball security most.

Does this surprise you? I think most of 2019 scrambled yall fn brains. Do you realize people talked shite about Joe because of how many slants and crossing routes we ran? Our TE ran 2 routes all season. A seam, and a shallow out. About 4 plays account for 90% of our offense and you idiots for whatever reason think we were out there throwing 50 yard bombs every other play.
Burrow 2019 Highlights
We also had Jefferson and Chase, 2 of the top 3 WRs in the NFL on that offense. We don't have that talent this year, and the drops last night proved it.

If you watch the Clips, you will see:
1. A quarterback who throws the ball into man coverage and gives his receivers a chance to make the play.
2. A quarterback who scrambles with his head up and he’s looking to throw the ball.
3. A quarterback who comes off his first read.
4. A decisive quarterback, who gets rid of the ball quickly.
5. A quarterback who forces the defense to cover vertically.
Sure he’s more turnover prone but you’ve got to take the bad with the good. The book is out on how to stop JD5. JD5’s game has not evolved.

so les miles ran more plays than us. GTFO.
we attacked the whole field east-west and deep-intermediate-short. sure some of teh runs were simple but the pass game opened it up. joe and brady attacked mismatches and parts of the defense with flood routes, etc. we threw deep plenty. burrow actually read the d. we ran choice option routes with our receivers that killed defenses. in/out choice routes by JJ and plenty comeback/go choice routes by chase.

If only Nuss could beat out JD we wouldn’t have to see the melts after every loss.

JD is kellys baw and refuses to make a change and swallow his pride sad

I don't even give a shite if he throws it deep and it gets picked on occasion.
Like Burrow did with Chase.Throw it up and give your guy a shot.
Like the first TD he threw in the Bana game. Chase was not open but he believed Chase would win his 1 on 1 and he did

Ever heard of Johnny Unitas or Tom Brady?
Each were young QBs, riding the bench, "waiting their turn".
The starters were injured, they got their turn and never quit until they retired. I guess there have always been HCs and OCs that are blind to talent/leaders.

if nuss comes in and gives me a 3 to 1 TD to int ratio you takje it and roll with him.
plenty good to great Qb's threw picks here. russell, davey, flynn, mauck....like brett favre in NFL and on and on and on
this OH MUH JD DONT THROW NO PICKS is a joke. it is because he does not throw downfield or cannot throw anyone open

Didnt Nabers have a few 1v1 last night and he didnt come up with the ball? Brian Thomas had how many drops? Lacy had a for sure TD dropped that hit him in the numbers.
Hard to throw 50/50 balls when your WRs drop it when it hits them in the hands.

That's what we saw the winning QB do last night v. our DBs.

Here's an interesting stat.
In 84 attempts last season Nuss was sacked once.
In 388 attempts JD was sacked 43 times. 1 sack for every 9 attempts.
After the Southern game where he was clearly pressing, Nuss completed 76% of his passes for 613 yards 5/2 and 10.1 ypa.
There's no doubt there is potential there for him to be very good.
