Mike Norvell year 4 vs. Kelly year 2

First, I am not making any excuses for some of the coaching flaws last night: weak RedZone play calling in the first half, neutering Perkins, no halftime adjustments, sticking with Daniels down 2 TDs with 10 mins in the 4th, terrible play calling in general in 2nd half. Those have been beaten like a dead horse.
However, we have no choice but to be patient with Kelly and let him get his guys in there. Coach O left our roster in absolute shambles when he arrived. I can’t pretend to be an FSU insider but I don’t think Norvell inherited as bad of a roster issue and culture (and in a weaker conference). FSU fans were calling for Norvell to be fired in year 2 (and he didn’t even win his division in year 1) and his seat was very hot going into year 3 last year. Now look at things.
So, let’s see how LSU looks next year before we start calling for Coach Kelly’s job. That being said, I am absolutely in the camp of him needing to very likely replace coordinator(s) and/or position coach(es) before next season. Kelly is like Miles in that he is loyal (Jayden Daniels exhibit A) Whether he is both loyal and stubborn for too long is still TBD.

I think it’s troubling that LSU’s historical strengths of running backs and defensive backs is now our weakness. Kelly needs to address this.

We got spoiled by the miracle duct tape season and having an adult in charge year 1 last year enough to win the West. Winning the West was probably going to be our absolute ceiling this year anyways. Now we just need to win enough games/key games to recruit who we need

They were under 500 for the 3 years before he got there. They averaged around 18th ranked class before he got there. He had a much bigger shite show coming in and not the brand of LSU coming off the greatest season in the sports history with all those guys now being the face of the nfl.

Is it Kelly’s fault that coach O put those 2 position groups at a weakness? That our would be best DB this year is at Arkansas and 2nd best can’t stay out of trouble and on the field? That Cain was a 4 star transfer but the line opens no holes because coach O left the O line in shambles too? That Emery who was a 5 star can’t stay eligible/on the field and when he does plays behind same mediocre line? Kelly can’t fix that 1 year and 1 game into his tenure. Not with where O left the roster and recruiting plus mass transfer exodus

Recruiting is shite, next year will be worse than this

Already looking to Year 3! Woohoo

If you want to give Brian Kelly 4 or 5 years to turn thing around, fine. But if you are going to do that, then don’t come around here saying that he is an elite coach.

This whole concept of a coach needing 3-4 years is outdated, old-fashioned thinking. It's a complete BS excuse in modern football and Deion is proving it. Colorado may not be great and he's a loudmouth race baiter, but he replaced 80% of the roster, has a new staff, and has kids playing like a team with an exciting offense in year 1 week 1.

Due to large buyout we are stuck with BK for years to come
I think BK is too much like Miles in the loyalty factor and not making IMMEDIATE changes and adjustments needed because of his ego
We can’t wait 2-3 years in this football environment for him to be successful
We will get passed up

Recruiting is different now than the pre-NIL era. Now A&M and Texas can throw a bag of money last minute to 5 stars to flip them from us (like bama was doing for years under the table but now it’s multiple schools and our boosters had to pay for miles and O’s buyouts too plus Kelly’s new deal). At least Kelly has been doing a good job of repairing/building the fence around Louisiana. I would rather have a 4 star high character guy who grew up dreaming to be a Tiger than a lot of these 5 star prima donnas that are just going to go to whatever blue blood offers them the most money and feel entitled (Harris, Simmons etc.). It skews the national recruiting class rankings and people freak out.

TCU wasn’t the equivalent of opponent as FSU was last year or this year. Colorado defense was porous. Let’s see how Colorado does after there’s a few games of film on them. Because right now this isn’t an apples to apples comparison.

Of course it isn't and they will probably lose many games, but if I'm a stud recruit and I can play for Coach Prime or some old arse white dude, I'm heading to the mountains. They are already better than they were last year.
Colorado has a great staff and they aren't making excuses. They aren't saying "give us 3 years". Deion is the hype man and let's his coaches coach.

Good lord. Some of you are so quick to give up on this year.

what I meant by next year is how we look the rest of the season and how we look personnel wise (recruiting/transfer portal in the off-season) and coordinator/position coach-wise. I should have been more clear. I haven’t given up on this season like many negatigers
