Late first round but could play his way into being mid/early first round pick

I haven't seen him go that early. Everything I saw, he was going in 3rd or 4th round.

Jacquelin Roy was getting first round buzz before last year. I know Wingo is small but he's a MUCH better player. Should be mid 2nd at least

I’m not saying he wont be a good pro but I doubt someone drafts him that high. He would need a monster year and his size will still probably scare some teams away until the 3rd or 4th. Maybe 2nd. He is an outstanding player tho. No doubt.

He’s 6’0 285 lbs, at best.

DTs at that size aren’t highly desired by NFL scouts. That’s why Maason Smith is a much higher ranked prospect than Wingo despite Wingo have much more college production. They see Wingo as a good college player with concerns he may not be as productive once level of size and athleticism greatly increases in the NFL. They see a guy like Smith as someone who can handle the size and physicality of the NFL. They’ll teach him to be a good DT

NFL teams look at raw physical traits more than production. They feel they can teach a rare athlete to be a great player. They can’t teach him to had rare size and physical ability. That’s why Anthony Richardson gets taken much higher than Max Duggan.

He won’t go in the 1st but his height also does not doom him, despite being 1% tile for height at the position.

Somewhere between 2-4rds depending on season he has & workout

Y’all are talking out of your arse with this.

Aaron Donald is arguably the best interior DL in the NFL. He’s listed as 6’1, 280 & he was picked 13th overall.

Another Pitt DL just got picked 19th last year. Calijah Kancey is listed as 6’1, 281

No one ever said there weren’t outliers. But that’s why Donald gets so much praise. He’s an outlier. Just like Drew Brees.

If you look at most draft projections he’s seen as a 3rd or 4th round guy. He’s had good production in college, so that projection isn’t based upon production.

The NFL errs on the side of rare physical traits. Always has. That doesn’t mean outliers don’t occur

You don’t get drafted in the 1st round because of “good production”. If he has an all-American season, like the other two guys I mentioned, he will be drafted much higher than 3rd or 4th round. Probably in the 1st round

His size might prevent him from going high.

For Pete's sake, let him play this year before worrying about the NFL.

Agreed. I played a pickup game against Henry Thomas when he was at LSU, and he was decidedly shorter than me - I was 6’ 2”. Thomas was always listed as 6’ 2” in the NFL, and maybe he grew, but I think they just overstated his height.

I was waiting for someone to bring up Aaron Donald. I love when people bring up outliers to try to prove someone wrong. Aaron Donald’s do t grow on trees. You named two players. No one said tgat there aren’t sub 300 dts tgat can move and be effective. Tgey are not often chosen in tge first or given first round money right off the bat. He’s an undersized DT. This isn’t a real complicated topic. We know he’s a very good player.
